zip cloud is now closing going out of business leftists with8 task of retrieving stored data on our own don't know where to begin?!

Original review Jan 20, 2025

I have an auto-pay account that says I am good until 2026, but when I try to back up files, I get a message saying my account must be renewed. Then, I get a long list of services/plans that I don't want or need to pay for.

I can't get past this pricey scam list. My files have not been backed up in 3 weeks, even though my account states my auto-pay is good until January 2026. They are trying to scam me into buying unnecessary items, and won't let me get the service I already paid for by auto renewal.

No one answers emails, and they don't have a customer service phone number. I can't believe this hoax.

DO NOT DELETE MY FILES

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Account expired; renewal fails online while abroad.
  • - Emails are unanswered and files threatened to be deleted; urgent.

I have been emailing you for days with no response. I received an email that my account has expired.

I have tried multiple times to renew online. But I am currently traveling in Korea, and the system will not honor my renewal -- it says the country code is not accurate. Obviously, it is detecting that I am abroad. You have threatened to delete my files by yesterday.

I have sent emails which you have not answered. WHAT IS GOING ON!!!

Pros:
  • Backup works well
Cons:
  • Customer service is terrible

Preferred solution: Apology

Billing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Subscribed in 2013; used briefly, then years of inactivity.
  • - Zipcloud billed for years with no reminders; over $1,000 paid, only $12.44 refunded.

Subscribed in 2013, used for short time, then forgot I had the subscription. Zipcloud, however, never forgot.

And bill me they did.to bill. What they forgot was to remind me that for about six years, there had not been any activity in my account. Contrast this with IONO.com, my ISP, which send me notices BEFORE EVERY charge. Zipcloud - not so much, although Mark Sullivan, in his helpful chat session, wrote that :"We regularly sends [sic] the alerts, notifications to the Emails." The Emails?

Where is that? I know where it is not: it's not my mail box. So, no emails to a seven-year subscriber.

Of the over $1,000 paid during the seven years, they refunded the last payment : $12.44. I can't thank them enough.

Loss:
$1000

User's recommendation: Choose a company that notifies you of upcoming charges. And one that does not lie about what they do: "We regularly sends [sic] the alerts, notifications to the Emails."
