Kumpf spin on poor choice of material
Hi Dennis
Sorry to hear your wife has had problems with your Ziera’s (Kumfs)The problem that you have encountered is something that happens to PU soles (polyurethane) over time as the material ages. PU is a unique material that is made by mixing two chemicals together to form the light weight soft cushioning material that fits in well with the comfort story. One of the qualities of the material is that it is also environmentally friendly by being bio degradable.
We advise customers when they buy shoe styles with PU soles to wear them frequently to get the best performance from them. With normal wear and tear most customers get good use from them and we would normally expect anything from two to five years wear performance. When the shoes are left in wardrobes, cupboards or even in the original shoe boxes the soling material absorbs moisture from the atmosphere and this works from the inside out, so visually the soles look in tact but the structure inside starts to breakdown. So when you go to wear them after a long period of no wear the soles collapse and crumble.I can understand that you may be disappointed in what’s happened. Especially if they have been a well-loved pair of shoes and you still see plenty of wear in the uppers.
We will not take any corrective action if the shoes are over a year old, but can advise the shoes could be re-soled by a local shoe repairer if they have the skill and a suitable sole replacement. If they are under a year old you can take them back to the store you purchased for a resolution.

Comments: Hi, My wife loves your shoes. However, a pair she purchased a couple of years ago seem to have defective material in the soles. Material is breaking off the edges and the soles are developing several cracks. I would be happy to mail pictures. Thanks, Dennis young
