Hello, I found Zapp Electric through a Google search and contacted them in January to inquire about a quote for some electrical work at my house. The project was to install 4 forced air wall heaters and install 2 exterior power outlets. The call center answering my call were great as far as scheduling and calling back. They explain to me that there will be a $49 fee for an electrician to come to my house and just to create a quote or work order and that this amount would not be credited back to me if they actually did the work. Well, this should have been a flag for me to cancel the appointment with them and move to the next electrical company. But I decided to have their electrician come to my house because I needed the heaters installed for the winter. The electrician came over and first thing he started with was by telling me how I needed to upgrade the electrical box. I had bought this house few months ago and the current electrical box passed the inspection. So I knew that was no need for me to upgrade the electrical at this point and I told him that I don't need any upgrades to the electrical box and the priority is the install the 4 heaters and then do the exterior outlet boxes. He said he will go back to his truck and write up some quotes for me and it took him about 20 minutes. He came back in with quotes for 8 different work scenarios. But the only one I wanted to review was the one for what I had him come over to my house and give me a quote for. I was shocked when I saw the quote, $2,408.78 + $125 for permit (not needed) + $246.31 in tax and $53.66 for showing to give a quote = $2,839.09. To me this was incredible and instantly realized that this was way over priced and felt he was trying to rip me off, probably because of my innocent, exterior looks :-). I have a feeling that he probably get commission on each completed work. I felt a bit insulted in this process. He also suggested that they have financing available (which mean paying massive interests) and tried to have me sign the "Acceptance Of Work Performed" agreement and I told him that I don't want to sign it right now and just needed the quote to review and will contact his call center if I wanted to proceed. So, I just paid him $53.66 for showing up and sent him on his way. My bf suggested that we contact the independent, contractor, certified master electrician who worked on his house. This guy was great and very professional. He came over to review the project and no cost for showing up to give me a quote. He did the all the work listed above the following week and the total cost was $671.36 and this included tax. A difference of $2,167.73. I wanted to post a review to share with consumers out there of my experience with Zapp Electric. Please be cautious, mindful and do your research before having someone come to your home to give you home improvement project quotes. Thank you.
