*** for communication

Since Friday my granddaughter has been in the emergency room. Were not consenting to be placed anywhere. They continue to push their agenda upon us. Despite our plans for her treatment. Now theyre saying they have the authority to place her without our permission. The original assessment was based on lies. And no one is hearing what the child said. To date not one document has been signed giving them these rights. Were denied access to her. As attempting to retain legal consultants.

User's recommendation: Careful of what they say.

They need shut down

One in MA was closed and layed off more then 100 staff members. Everyone talks about it doing good for the girls there but no one talked about the number of open and ongoing child abuse cases. They treated both the children and the staff horribly. They put violent kids with the "Quite" Ones so big fights dont break out, but instead the violent kid would just turn on other kids or staff leading to long nights in what was quite dorms prior. If a male staff had a sexual abuse case open they wouldnt put them on leave, they just put them with the older better behave girls. Where they would just do it again. Support your staff and your kids. This place did neither.

User's recommendation: Dont work here or let your kid be placed here.

My Best friend decided to dedicate herself to being a foster parent for this company. The child she has needs counselling very badly, yet Youth Villages has not moved on this for over 6 months. He has physically abused her and her family member by choking them. She is...

YOU need to mind your own business and let your friend handle this. IF your friend is unable to address herself, maybe she shouldn't be in foster care.

I have also had to file several complaints against YV with several agencies. As did my son's private psychologist. Reports were made to DCS for negligence in that he was starving and emaciated. He was 4' 8" and weighed 54 pounds. He had been residing at the YV Bartlett campus for close to a year at that point. Reports were made to the Tennessee State Licensing Board due to unlicensed persons posing as licensed counselors, therapists and social workers. Reports made to TBI and FBI for improper physical and chemical restraint of minors. I have letters from these agencies stating that my complaints were founded and that measures were being taken to correct these issues. I have gone to several news agencies with evidence of everything I have stated here. Not one news person has ever returned my calls or emails. I will not give up! My child and the thousands of other children that have been neglected care due to the collusion between Youth Villages , TennCare and DCS need us to speak for them. This has to change. Every child matters. Every child deserves appropriate medical care!! The pictures I have added shows how thin my son was at the time of the DCS complaint. How drugged he was at the time of the Federal and State complaints and how they dressed him whenever I would pick him up to take him to his psychologist. I would have to wait for an hour or more for him to change and we would miss his appointments. A photo of why he was complaining of sore feet and was not walking right. A serious lack of hygiene. There is also a photo of a letter to show that my complaints were valid.

I have, since my last comment, spoken to the insurance company. THE APPEAL HAS NOT BEEN DECIDED AND PAYMENT FOR CARE HAS NOT STOPPED. YOUTH VILLAGES ARE ONCE AGAIN TRYING TO BE THE OMNIPOTENT ENTITY THAT THEY BELIEVE THEMSELVES TO BE!!!

#1687081

YOUTH VILLAGES IS TRYING TO KICK HIM OUT WITHOUT ADEQUATE SERVICES AND AFTERCARE. My son's counselor and his supervisor phoned me this morning to inform me that my appeal for transitional care was denied and that they would be discharging my son tomorrow I stated that I would like to conference call in my legal representative and she refused and ended the call.

I called my lawyers and she called back. I added her into our call and she requested that they they hang up or she would again end the call again. My lawyers released the line and she, the supervisor, was demanding and argumentative and bordered on threatening stating that I would need to pick him up tomorrow by 1 pm. I explained to her that the head of Youth Crisis Management with DCS in Nashville has said that any child being in residential care for longer than a few months requires AND RECEIVES transitional services or the rate of success is greatly diminished.

I asked her WHY MY SON IS BEING DENIED THE SAME LEVEL OF CARE AFFORDED EVERY OTHER CHILD. She said she was aware of the statistics and that I still needed to pick him up tomorrow by 1 pm. I told her that he needed to be afforded the same transitional care that every other child gets and again she stated that I had to pick him up by 1 pm. I HAVE AUDIO OF ALL OF THIS AND MORE In speaking again with my lawyer he is as confused as I am as to why they are so adamant about not providing him with any of the appropriate care that he needs.

HE IS BEING KICKED OUT WITHOUT TRANSITIONAL SERVICES OR ADEQUATE AFTER CARE SERVICES BECAUSE I FIGHT TOO HARD FOR MY CHILD!! (they have not even provided us with an appointment or contact information for an outpatient psychiatrist as is required for discharge) I have filed too many complaints and I CAUSED THEM TOO MUCH TROUBLE by having them forced to provide a better standard of care. I am not one of those parents that are so thankful to have a peaceful life that I would allow them to fill my child full of restraining medications and send him home. In fighting to get my son the treatment he needs I have caused a blemish to their boastful "3 months or less and the child is cured" attitude.

Chemical restraint is not a cure and will not afford a child the ability to become a functioning member of adult society.

Our job as parents is to raise children to become well functioning decent members of society. I AM JUST TRYING TO DO MY JOB AND GIVE MY SON A CHANCE AT A GOOD AND DECENT LIFE AFTER CHILDHOOD!!!

DENYING MY CHILD COURT ORDERED CARE

Youth Villages - DENYING MY CHILD COURT ORDERED CARE
Youth Villages - DENYING MY CHILD COURT ORDERED CARE
Update by user Nov 13, 2019

On November the 8th my son's psychologist sent a referral to TennCare stating that my son is a danger to himself and others and should be in long term residential care. He further states that my son's behavior is now to a point that he feels he could become the next mass shooter.

My son is 11 years old. Had he not been denied treatment for the past 3 years by Youth Villages and TennCare maybe he would have gotten better and not worse.

Update by user Nov 13, 2019

UPDATEMy son was forced out (stated cured and sent home under much resistance on my part and the part of his real doctors). I was told to pick him up or they would turn him over to DCS custody.

That was August 5th. By August 5th my son had ran away from school, cussed out the police officers that found him, cussed his teachers, stole from other students and his teacher. He was placed on 6 months probation which he violated by sexual misconduct with several students in his class and a group of pre k children. He, on September 5th, exactly one month of being "cured" by Youth Villages, was placed on house arrest which will remain until late February if he does not violate that.

My son has been taken to the emergency room in crisis on more than one occasion since his dismissal from Youth Villages Bartlett Campus. He remains suicidal and homicidal and has great ideations of killing me and has attempted to do so more than once. When taken to ER in mental health crisis the protocol is to bring in a crisis counselor from Youth Villages Crisis Management Team. Every time my son has been in crisis since being released from YV Bartlett the crisis counselor has denied him admittance to any type of care facility.

The last time a crisis counselor was called she told me that her supervisor, Megan from Youth Villages, had phoned her on her way to the hospital and said that they would not be re admitting him into residential care. This counselor had not spoken to or seen my son or myself at this point. She made a predetermined decision to send him home.

I will try to attach a picture of what my son looked like when we arrived home. You can see he is very much in crisis and needs help.

Update by user May 15, 2019

I have added a copy of the court order dated March 20, 2017 as well as a letter from TennCare dated April 19, 2017. The Court order demands a higher level of care for my son.

The letter from TennCare states that they are working together with Youth Villages to circumvent the court order and find a lower lever of care for my son. Also attached is the follow up notice from TennCare on September 22, 2017 stating that Dr. Tom, psychiatrist for Youth Villages, has decided to stop my son's care. Another blatant disregard for the court order by Youth Villages.

I have been fighting these entities for 2 1/2 years to force compliance of this court order. I have had the assistance of Tennessee Justice Center to assist in this since very early on. They, TJC, made a deal with TennCare that because they refuse to follow the court order that we would agree to have my son evaluated by the Center of Excellence and follow their recommendations. It took nine months to get this evaluation due to Youth Villages missing appointments.

Now we have recommendations and both Youth Villages and TennCare refuse to follow them. A few days ago I was told by the Tennessee Justice Center that we can no longer cause them to follow the court order or the agreement we made in lieu of the court order because so much time has lapsed.

Now Youth Villages , TennCare and the COE are trying to send my son home without even providing transitional services (which is provided to all children that have been in RTC for over a few moths time). He has been there for 2 1/2 years.

My son has been diagnosed with several mental illnesses including Anti Social Personality Disorder, Disregulative Mood Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder and a few others. He has bee placed in Residential Treatment Facilities eight times and has come home without change. These treatment centers are glorified babysitter that fill children with as much medication that they can get away with and then send the children back home only to continually repeat this process. I fought the insurance company to get my son into a genuine psychiatric facility so that he could get the treatment that he very desperately needs. We won the court hearing. Even TennCare's own witness, a psychiatrist, stated that my son needed a higher level of care in an inpatient psychiatric facility that offers neuropsychiatric care. That was 2 years ago. My son has still not received the care as set forth in the court order. TennCare and all involved have refused to follow the judges orders and there is no one that I can find to fore them to. My son was 8 when he killed a litter of kittens to get back at me for making him go to be early. He has on numerous occasions attacked me physically, once he even broke my hand. The worst in my opinion was when he plotted out a way to kill my 7, 5 and 2 year old grandchildren. He was upset because they were able to play and he had to finish his school work. He hid his pencil so that he could "stab them and kill them when everyone went to sleep". Now, after 2 years in Youth Villages residential treatment he is being sent home again. He is the same as when he left here. I was told that as part of his returning safety plan that I need to lock up everything sharp due to his homicidal ideations. I have to have eyes on him 100% of the time. Does this sound like a child that is safe to return home? During this past two years I have taken my son to private psychologists that have agreed with the treatment plan as set by the psychiatrist in the court hearing and yet TennCare has decided that the determination of low level counselor is of more value.

I had a similar experience with Youth Villages. They have been in our home 3 times and each time it was a new, young, and non-degree holding counselor.

I asked for a copy of my child's records on several occasions and they would never provide it. Our most recent counselor told me that she would not recommend their own residential care facility!

I am sorry that happened to you. I sincerely hope that you were able to get the appropriate care for your child.

Please share this to your media pages. The more that we can raise awareness the better the chances are that they can be held accountable for their negligence.

I checked the licensing status of all of the caregivers involved with my sons care at the YV Bartlett Campus and none were licensed social workers or counselors as they were claiming. His therapist was a nurses aid and the person that was signing as LCSW was an ambulance technician.
