Horrible restaurant treatment in Wytheville Virginia
I am not sure what is going on with the town of Wytheville Virginia as far as fast food restaurants are concerned. When I say fast food restaurants, I am referring to Wendy's old-fashioned hamburgers, McDonald's, KFC/Taco Bell, Sonic, and Hardee's. For example, we stopped in at the local Hardee's to pick up three plain hotdogs. This should be a simple order, right? They actually managed to screw this up. One hot dog was plain and edible. Another was charred to a cinder, black and shriveled, and was disgusting to look at. The third and final was covered in mustard, which is not what I consider plain. Perhaps this was because the one employee was upset over having to work a double shift. Then again, it could have been because the manager or whoever was in charge was giving him dirty looks instead of paying attention to the order. Of course, it could be that neither of them could read or write and therefore could not get the order correct. A fast food drive through is usually a quick way of getting a *** to eat. Apparently, not at this McDonald's. We were told to order when we were ready, but when we tried to order, we were completely ignored. Wow, what a great way to serve fast food. The KFC/Taco Bell tends to advertise food that they do not have ready. The prime example of this is the oven baked/grilled chicken that they offer as opposed to the fried. No matter what time that you arrive at the restaurant, they either have one piece or none available for sale. You must wait for them to cook it. This town is amazing in that it is not 2 miles across but yet has two Wendy's restaurants owned by the same person. I guess that's a way of doubling their income when they're too lazy to keep an eye on the restaurants. They rarely, if ever, have the grilled chicken sandwiches available. But the more annoying aspect is that if you custom order one of their burgers, they can screw it up in some of the most amazing ways. Of course, this could be because they have a drug runner/user as an employee who doesn't even have a drivers license. Kinda makes you wonder how safe the food is. There are some notable exceptions to this little tourist trap. Right off, there is no Burger King, Chick-fil-A, or other such chain. The nearest Burger King is 15 miles out of town limits, and the nearest Chick-fil-A is a good 45 min. away. Maybe this is because they tend to hire smarter people than the others do. My suggestion? Bypass the fast food in this tourist trap and either eat at a Pizza Hut, Shoney's, Applebee's, Cracker Barrel or other well-known chain. The Applebee's has one outstanding waitress named Emily who makes it a point to provide the best service in the town. It's a shame that there are more people like her in that area.
