Force me to pay for magazines I cancelled!

World Wide Readers called my cell phone and I was in a pleasant mood that day and i verbally agreed to purchase some magazines. The next day I woke up and changed my mind and cancelled the automatic deduct from my credit card. I received a call 4 weeks later stating I was being sent to collections because I didn't pay them. They then threatened to put this information on my credit report somehow without my social security number. The managers I talked to said I verbally committed to purchase there product and by law I had to pay. I told them wear to go and have since contacted my attorney.

did they say that all you had to do was pay for a weekly magazine, to get 4 free magazines?
