If you have not already done so the bank will gladly provide proof to you that your payment was taken and by whom it was taken. You either mail that in with the letter certified mail return receipt requested and signature required, or you walk into the office ask for a payment manager and present them with the evidence from the bank that your payment was cashed and taken.

I can assure you at that point there will be no request for further payment because they know they will lose in court. Yes it's a pain in the butt for you to have to go through that but it's one way to resolve the situation once and for all.

If you do not have a printed copy of the website confirmation of your payment, you need to get a copy of the statement from the bank or credit card company showing that your money was taken. You mail that in certified mail, return receipt requested, signature required, with a letter saying here is proof that you got my money and I do not intend to pay you twice.

Even better in my opinion and I have done it on behalf of customers before is to walk into their office, ask for a billing or financial manager or supervisor and present them with the information. It may be a pain in the butt but it will resolve the situation because they don't want to go to small claims court and know they're going to lose.

Unreasonable billing practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Disabled customer disputes ~$67 bill after paying $90 on 10/1/19 and being cut off.
  • - Seeks ADA accommodation and opposes $40 reconnect fee.

Complaint Type:

Billing or Collection Issues

Description of Complaint:

I'm Disabled and have a billing dispute that needs to be resolved I feel my rights have been Violated for the sum of approx $ 67.00 and being cut off when I paid $ 90.00 dollars just three weeks before on 10/1/19 I feel this is unfair billing practices for one I have mentioned that I only get paid once a month on 1 St of each month and explained to them I could only afford $ 90 for Oct 2019 they seemed to not want to hear that I consider it as unfair billing practices and feel I should not have to pay a reconnect fee of $ 40.00 how is it that does not acknowledge the Americans with Disabilities Act. It is a Federal law that all Businesses have to go by no exceptions to the rule this I feel is also an act of Disabilities Discrimination all I asked for was a reasonable accommodation of billing due to date change and the have failed so I feel it was a ploy to get more money than the actual bill no other Disabled person shall have to deal with a monopolized company as I will advocate for changes in the current unfair billing practices of such company I'm not trying to get out of a bill but I shouldn't have to fight these people each month and cause me serious health Issues I have heart conditions and Diabetes along with Depression
