IT BROKE

AI Highlights
  • - Warranty expired two weeks before the oven broke; Whirlpool refused repair or refund.
  • - Refunds apply only if the fault is manufacturer-related.

2 weeks after the warranty expired the oven broke down and of course whirlpool refused to repair replace or refund. Jerks.

They said if I repair the problem at my own cost (with their service provider, contracted by them) and it was found the fault was manufacturers issue, they would refund the cost of the cervice, and if their service provider found it was my fault (by using it in a normal fasion) then too bad for me.

After many many phone calls, I got onto someone from whirlpool who told me they would expect the product to last at least 5-10 years, so when i informed them that i was actually calling to say my oven dies after less than 4 years light use and what were they goin to do about it they hung up on me.

The problem exacerbated to the point where the machine will not undergo a rinse cycle at all.

Washing machine issue

AI Highlights
  • - Whirlpool washing machine stopped working about 18 months after replacement.
  • - Power issue; will contact repairer with model WFS1073CD 9052****.

I am writing this email to express my disappointment with your products. I have a Whirlpool washing machine.

I bought my washing machine about 3 years ago. After one year the washing machine stopped working. Luckily the washing machine was under warranty and it was replaced with a brand new washing machine. Tonight, about 18 months after the replacement, my washing machine stopped working.

It seems that there is an issue with the power reaching the washing machine. I am starting to have some doubts on the reliability of your products, I aspect that a washing machine should last longer than 1 or 2 years especially when I buy a world renowned brand like Whirlpool.

I will contact your preferred repairer in my area tomorrow and I am hoping that I can resolve the matter without buying a new washing machine.

I will also give the details of my washing machine, WFS1073CD 9052****.

Fridge repair problems

AI Highlights
  • - Fridge broke; repair unavailable Friday/weekend, risking food waste.
  • - Dacaps never called or emailed; only a strange receipt request.

I am totally annoyed by Whirlpool products & warranty services. It`s absolutely horrible.

My fridge stooped working on Friday, so I contacted Whirlpool for repair. I was upset about several things as follows,1) I was told nothing can be done on Friday & the weekend - means all my foods gone surely get wasted. Hence, I bought Westinghouse fridge as anyways I can`t any more rely on Whirlpool.2) I was told that I would get an call from Dacaps (repairing company which was even worse). I never received received an call, rather received an weird message on my phone from unknown number telling me to send my fridge receipt (which is already submitted to Whirlpool).

How on the earth would I know what`s Dacaps or should I consider it a scam message. 3) Dacaps don`t have courtesy to call or email, just some weird message. 4) When I called them, I was given appointment on Friday next week with no written confirmation on email or anywhere else. I waited the whole day to realize nobody turned up.5) Called Dacaps on Monday the subsequent week.

I was told my appointment was on tomorrow & not last Friday.6)I asked them what time should I expect them to come, & I was told that I need to call them tomorrow again to fix a time.

That`s ridiculous, hopeless, nonsense. I am never gonna get Whirlpool products or Dacaps services henceforth or would recommend it to anybody else.

Whilrpool's bad, lousy service!!! the worst!

AI Highlights
  • - Washing machine broke after 6 months; service unavailable for 4 days.
  • - Dishwasher service was efficient before; Whirlpool is disappointing now.

So my brand new washing machine which is only 6 months old breaks down. Ring the service department who then puts me in touch with a external service provide who cannot come out for 4 days mean while my kids have no clothes to waer to school.

When I politely call them back to ask if there was any other providers that would be able to come quickly, the answer was no, they are the only ones on our computer database otherwise we would have to cahrge you for the providers travel. Are you kidding!!!! Our dish washer broke a couple of months ago they were so efficient and courteous. He also took the time to check out our fridge.

I am sooo disappointed in whirlpool. THis will definitely be going on facebook to my 400 friends!

Inoperable Whirlpool AKR620WH exhaust/range hood

AI Highlights
  • - The hood ships without a ducting kit or carbon filters.
  • - The unit is flimsy and unstable; a part fell off and it broke.

This model is sold without either a ducting kit OR carbon filters - rather like selling a car without a set of wheels. Both are totally unusable. When I discovered neither was included in the package, I rang Whirlpool to both voice my frustration and to find a solution. The Whirlpool rep explained it came with neither (Really???) but, given my frustration, she would arrange for a complimentary ducting kit to be sent to me. A month later it hadn't arrived.

In the interim we had tried to get a set of charcoal filters (two are required) only to find out from the Whirlpool agent that they had to be ordered and would take three weeks! Finally, we got a call saying they were in stock. We drove 50klms to get them, arrived home, opened the box to find there is ONE filter. But wait, it gets worse... it was the wrong size anyway! I called them only to be told if we wanted two, we should have ordered two SETS! Que? Sets is plural and, surely more importantly, since the range hood needs TWO to operate, a pack/set would logically contain two! As to the wrong size, the inference was that that was our fault too!

The filter fiasco only served to remind me that we hadn't received the promised ducting kit so I rang Whirlpool again. Apologies all around. "Don't know what's happened here but I'll make sure it gets out to you ASAP".

Well, about four or five weeks later now, I called Whirlpool again this afternoon because there is STILL no ducting kit! This time I was told that the 'internal' request for a complementary ducting kit had been denied "because the unit isn't supplied with either a ducting kit OR carbon filters". Well thanks for letting me, the customer, in on that 'internal' decision.

It would be funny if it wasn't my money and labour I'm talking about here.

It's also worth noting that the actual unit is very flimsy and very unstable. I installed it as per Whirlpool specs and then proceeded to add two much stronger holding screws in order to 'end the wobble'.

What prompted me to call Whirlpool today? A bit fell off the range hood onto the Whirlpool cooktop below and broke. So it is not only technically unusable, it's now broken as well... and it's never been used!

As a final comment, as a part of a major home renovation, I purchased appliances for two kitchens at the same time – a granny flat and our home. This included the aforementioned Whirlpool hood and another range hood from Think Appliances. This latter range hood not only included the ducting kit but also an extra section of flue for very high ceilings. In other words, it was sold with the consumer in mind! The quality is also far superior to the Whirlpool.

Whirpool non consumer attitude

AI Highlights
  • - Fridge 7 months old with 2 service calls, not working for 2 weeks.
  • - Consumer Affairs involvement prompted action; contact the case manager.

I have been deadling with Whirpool for just under three weeks on behalf of my 96 year old Grandmother. The fridge she bought 7 months ago has had 2 service calls and has now not been working for 2 weeks.

I called them twice a day to get a case maanager to call me back, it wasn't until I got consumer affairs involved has something actually happened. Don't bother calling the general customer service number, call the case mannager directly if you want to get any where Ph.

130088****. I would never ever purchase a Whirpool product again.

I sent simpson washing machine under warranty to be fixed

AI Highlights
  • - Five months with no update from Simpson (Whirlpool) on repair or location.
  • - The supplier has asked for an update; the washer is under warranty.

after 5 months i have not heard from Simpson (Whirlpool) as to repair problem or where washing machine is. Have asked supplier where is.

Says he has asked for update. How long does it take for a repair or even a response as to what the actual problem is/was. This washing machine was under warranty, only 4 months old.

I personally believe that it was a problem with main bearing, or though i am not a repairer.

It seems that this is a primary fault with Simpson washing machines after looking at the net and various complaint mediums online.
