West Coast Endoscopy Center, Clearwater, Fl employs disturbed Technician
I want consumers to be aware that West Coast Endoscopy Center, Clearwater, Florida continues to employ a Male Technician, who has abused his position with female patients. I complained to the Administrator of West Coast Endoscopy Center about the Technician, who positioned me in a humiliating way during preparation for an Endoscopy examination in December, 2007. The Administrator said there had been a previous complaint about the same Technician from a female patient. Despite telling me this, the Administrator refused to take any action against the Technician. She said that due to my complaint they would now sedate all patients before exposing them for the colonoscopy procedure. When I suggested that the disturbed Technician could now do as he pleased with unconscious female patients, her reply was "what you don't know won't hurt you." This type of response was very disturbing. I have filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Health but they will also do nothing to guard the public from this Technician. By posting on the Internet my bad experience at West Coast Endoscopy Center, I want to warn female patients not to use their services. There is a disturbed male Technician working there, who abuses female patients.

If you are getting an endoscopy, you need to be placed in what is called the left lateral position. What this technician was doing was his job, preparing the patient for a colonoscopy. Besides the technician there is always a nurse in the room, I doubt very much that a nurse would allow anything to happen in front of them...sounds like a nutjob to me.

The problem with our society is that there is always one victim of abuse and 50 others who are willing to back up the abuser because they have some sort of loyalty to the organization. This is a crime, and for those who wouldn't take the word of another woman's bad experience in an effort to prevent someone else from dealing with a situation like this, well maybe you can get knocked out so that you won't know what's really happening to you.
I would never subject myself to a place that has this type of complaint and if you are smart you would believe the woman who has taken her time to let you know of this potentially abusive technician. I had my own bad experience with Dr Ceasar Lara in Clearwater when I was in my late twenties and I filed a complaint with the Board of Medicine.
This man is sick and unfortunatly he has people backing him too. To all of you who have been victimized know that the day will come when God will seek the revenge you have long awaited.
I believe the patient who wrote about her experience. We all know about elder care abuse and abuse of the disabled.
There is a systemic problem in healthcare and it's attitudes like the above questioning everyone's mental state that tries to bully the public. I would suggest that you examine the complaints at your assigned risk department--sure, a couple may be from someone who may not be stable but not the 40% of complaints filed due to employee impropriety in healthcare.
Do you homework before defaming someone. As a writer/researcher advocating for same gender care for victims of previous abuse, it's appalling at all the inappropriate behavior that goes on every day.
I had a great experience at West Coast Endoscopy and have referred all of my friends and family to them! Working in healthcare for many years (a few of those in endoscopy), it is continually disturbing that patients are allowed to defame the character of the healthcare workers that are trying to help them.
I personally know the administrator of this facility and can vouch that neither she nor any other administrator would say to a patient that there were similar complaints in the past, but they were unwilling to deal with the staff member. In today's healthcare world, risk management is at the forefront of everyone's mind.
This is due, in part, by patient complaints that are invalid and defaming. Before anyone posts a detrimental comment on the internet, maybe their mental state should first be examined.
