The new ones are junk.
West end slow cooker rusted after 2 years. No warranty for corrosion! I called the company many times and they feel sad for me but will not send me a new replacement to replace the rusted one.

Please know this is my fourth West Bend Slow cooker. The "pan" for the slow cooker is thinner material than those in the past and the bottom of the pan is already showing wear. Metal handles get hot
Unfortunately, I've gone back to using an older pan on the new base as the new pan is made of thinner metal and the handles are metal as opposed to the former ones that were plastic. Consequently, I need hot pads to pick it up.
The lid is not functional - the old lid could be inverted when put in the refrigerator to save space. Also, I use the pan to cook corn on the cob, then put the cooked corn in the lid (on a paper towel) to drain - not with the new lid with the *** handle on top. Fortunately, I've saved the pan from an old one - white enamel with grey slash marks - and today I used it on the new base. I also have one at our vacation home.
The reason for getting new ones is that the heating/cooking element seemed to become unreliable, probably due to age. Thanks for allowing me to vent my disappointment.
