Demolished home instead of allowing disabled adults to continue to live in it

FLIP FIVE a non-profit that believed they had a lease with Welltower for a home on a property purchased on speculation. FLIP FIVE had 4 disabled adults and 2 battered woman living in the home starting in April of 2024, providing them with the assistance they needed, supervised by the State of Idaho.

At the end of July a lawyer who represented Welltower showed up with a swat team of law enforcement officers to serve the disabled residents to surrender the property. Welltower did not work with Flip Five to find am agreement only speaking to Flip Five through the hired lawyer. On August 7th they had everyone forcibly removed and then bulldozed all the structures even though Welltower will be unable to develop the property as they intended upon purchase because of building permit politics, possibly indefinitely. Welltower is a 40 billion dollar company that would rather throw something away then let someone use it, which is what is wrong with corporations and our society as a whole.

Now there are 6 displaced people who have suddenly found themselves homeless because Welltower would rather bulldoze a home, that was passible up to code, excellently insulated, not to mention the non-profit had put a significant amount of labor and materials they had solicited into making the house compliant with State of Idaho residential assisted living facilities standards, then work with the non-profit to allow them to use it as housing for disabled adults.

The non-profit lost so much in this violent and selfish action that they haven't been able to financially recover to find new housing. 2 are now living on the street, 2 crammed in a board members small home with one living in the garage, 1 of the woman went back to a abusive home, and the youngest of them is in jail, not because he us a criminal but because he is developmentally disabled and is easily manipulated.

Welltower a 40 billion dollar company should be ashamed of their lack of awareness of the community they bought into and should repay the non-profit for their loses so they can find housing for all the people they displaced.

Loss:
$15000
Pros:
  • Making money for their investors
Cons:
  • Old folks have died
  • Keep as little staff as possible
  • Frozen to death

Preferred solution: Apology and reimbursement for all the labor and materials invested so we can do it again at a new location and get this grouo of disabled folks in a safe and secure environment with the daily assistance they need.

User's recommendation: WELLTOWER only cares about the bottom line dollar and displays decisions that fall in line with everything that is wrong with corporate America. They would rather throw things away then have others use them, they buy medical buildings and then charge the doctors indefinitely often with Triple Leases so they pay for maintinance and property tax as ifbthey owned the building but dont. They understaff their nrsibg homes and people have died from their lack of concern for anythuming but the $. ors rent indefinitely
