AI Highlights
  • - The furnace circuit board has failed for the second time.
  • - We can't reset it anymore and no one knows where the part is.

The circuit board on the furnace has failed for the second time. Until now, we've been able to reset it.

However, it's now reaching a point where we can't even reset it. It's acting unusual, and no one can tell me where the part is, not even my furnace guy.

Preferred solution: The circuit board as soon as possible

User's recommendation: No I wouldn’t recommend Weil McLain to my worst enemy

Selling American made junk but refuse to stock parts

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Weil McLain ECO110 installed in 2014; serviced.
  • - 2019 exchanger leaked; parts not stocked; 3 weeks without heat; $2,200; 2024 exchanger failed; $4,500.

We built our house in 2014 and had a Weil McLain ECO110 boiler installed. The system was serviced and maintained annually.

In 2019, the boiler quit working in the dead of winter. The heat exchanger was leaking. Well, they do not stock the part anywhere, and we had to wait three weeks for Weil McLain to make and ship one. It was over $2200.00, and we had to go three weeks without heat.

How can a company not stock parts for a 5-year-old boiler? Now, 2024, and the heat exchanger went bad again. This time, they wanted $4500.00 for the heat exchanger and of course, it would take 3 weeks, without heat in my house, Note, temps are forecast to drop to 18 degrees Fahrenheit tonight, and I am heating my house with a gas fireplace and space heaters. I got a quote to replace it for $6500.00 so, goodbye Weil McLain.

I got 10 years out of the boiler but had to replace a non stock, overpriced heat exchanger to do so. How is this company still in business? I can tell you.

You see, contractors like to install equipment that they can charge you to service after the warranty expires. Weil McLain fits that bill perfectly.

User's recommendation: Avoid or replace any and all Weil McLain products

Leaked right out of the box

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - The water heater leaks.
  • - No manual or warranty covers owner installation.
  • - Other plumbers avoid this company.
  • - Shop for a different product.

Bought a water heater from them recently and it leaks like a rotten boat. Weil McLain will not replace it because we installed it ourselvesDON NOT .

There is no mention in their manual or warranty information that states this. My husband has been doing plumbing for 35 years.

Told other plumbers and they said they dont buy from here anymore due to this issue and how difficult this company is. SHOP FOR A DIFFERENT PRODUCT!

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: do not buy

Combi boiler not working

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Bought in 2018; domestic water side never worked.
  • - Now it won't heat at all; main burner rusted.
  • - Exhaust fan noisy; customer unhappy with unit.

I bought a combo boiler October 2018 new. Had trouble with domestic water side not always working from beginning.

Now it won't work at all. It will not heat at all. Service person said several things wrong with it. Main burner is rusted out.

Exhaust fan makes alot of noise. Appears I bought a lemon and wish company would stand behind it. Used it three winters and now nothing.

I bought an American made unit and this is what I get. Very unhappy.

User's recommendation: Don't buy a Weil-McClain

Gas leak in Weil-McClain boiler

AI Highlights
  • - Weil-McClain boiler under 5 yrs began gas leak in 2007.
  • - Leak stops with heat; returns when off.
  • - Boiler disconnected; no hot water; $1,200+ spent.

Weil-McClain boiler, less than 5 years old, started leaking gas summer of 2007. The leak abated when the heat came on last winter, but reappeared this past May when the heat went off.

We have sent over $1200.00 in "repairs" and it is still leaking. Letter and supporting documents sent to CEO via certified mail and signed by James Vega on June 30, 2008. Letter has been IGNORED!

Local technicians cannot stop the leak and Weil-McClain apparently refuses to send assistance. We had to disconnect the boiler to avaoid breathing gas fumes, and we are now living without hot water.

The local gas company told us the problem was in the boiler. Can anyone please help us?

Weil McLain does have a warrantee on parts, but the owner has to register the unit after installing or you get nothing. Sadly, the installers do not tell the customers and some never even leave the manual for the system or any papers.

They don't want to fight to get the stuff or credit from Mclain. Even with that I see to many units that have problems and need parts like sensers, inducer fan, gas valves and the like and units are not even 5 years old.

Parts 10 times list above cost. Example inducer fan Mclain #383-70*-*** made by Honeywell (Thailand) part #FPE200A sell for 338.00 - 800.00 but if you can buy one under the Honeywell number from Thiland direct for 40.00..
