After trying to run the exe file I was brought to Crown Technologies because my computer network was hacked and they sold me a wifi software to stop this going forward. I purchased the software and they said it included webroot for the next 3 years.

Resolved: Double billed

Webroot - Double billed
Webroot - Double billed - Image 2
Updated by user Jan 31, 2024

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. Repeated requests for resolution through email resulted in a phone call from Webroot stating a full refund will be issued.

Original review Jan 30, 2024
I was double billed by Webroot when I purchased Webroot through Best Buy Geek Squad aka Total Tech. Im a long-time Webroot customer and somehow two accounts were created when I purchased Webroot through Best Buy with both renewing which resulted in double billing on two separate occasions.

Webroot states that its system will not allow a refund. This statement seems disingenuous. This is bad business practice by Webroot. This is bad customer service.

If its product is being sold by third parties such as Best Buy there should be a flag within the system so that a customer is not double billed.

Ive now experienced corporate theft by Webroot and Im -not- happy about it. Im warning others in hopes they will not experience theft by double billing.

I agree. This is a scam. I got an email that I was being charged for a subscription that I never signed up for.

Webroot - Charged twice
I renewed and shouldn't have. I would like a refund because I was charged twice. First charge was for $65.51 and then for $64.19. Please refund both charges, as I have another protection product that I prefer. Thank you

Oh, There are Many Reasons

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was a long time customer of Webroot. Two months ago my subscription expired and I never received a notice for renewal.

They say I canceled my auto renewal which I did not do. Not knowing that my subscription had expired because I was always on auto renewal, I tried several times to call customer support because of a concerning pop up on my screen. They required me to open a "ticket" online. I explained the entire situation in the ticket and they offered me no solution-they just re-sent me my keycode, (which obviously didn't work because the subscription was expired!) No one even bothered to research my account and send me accurate info-including that my account had expired! When I finally got through to them on the phone the tech was rude, very condescending and defensive.

He told me my account had expired and that I canceled auto renewal. I didn't. All he said to me was to change my passwords and move on- after a bad actor obviously accessed my computer! There was absolutely ZERO empathy from this guy-he spent the entire time defending webroot, eventhough they let my computers go unprotected for two months because they failed to send the proper notice I've always received.

It was obvious by his condescending attitude and tone of voice that he couldn't wait to get rid of me and push me off to the subscription renewal part of the company. Needless to say that didn't happen. I signed up with Norton after I hung up with this guy.

Why would I renew with a company who has a "tech support" person who had absolutely NO compassion for the fear that I was experiencing that someone had or was going to access my banking info. If they value their long time customers that little, they don't deserve my business any longer.

Anti virus and malware coverage failed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

May 2021 - 2 year subscription for $49.99 to 6/19/2023. October 2021, computer scam, locked up computer - $99.99 for a one time fix to eliminate virus.

April 2022, another computer *** from Russia - they cancelled my subscription- $390.00 to reinstall coverage for a 3 years term - never upgraded subscription date to 4/28/2025. Never notified me of scams.Never answered phone calls. Never replied to many emails. Phone rep always asked for more money.

Their firewall does not stop hacks. Their virus protection does not do what they say it does.

Total

amount of money is $540.00. Money is first, customer satisfaction is last.

Multiple charges in my bank account every few months after purchasing antivirus once

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I bought their antivirus online and since July I have had multiple charges to my bank account over and over. I can never speak with a customer service rep. I am always told to go online to request a refund but, that doesn't work because I don't have an invoice for these charges. Very poor service. I will never use their product again.
