Verified ReviewerCautionary Tale of a Disappointing Pool Equipment Installation by Waterworks Pool & Spa Wangara
- - Halo Chlorinator ordered Nov 2022; delivered and paid Jan 2023.
- - Installation by an inexperienced tech damaged decking and sensors; leaks fixed.
They have refused to respond to our letters. I believe that for them, a poorly done job that needs to be corrected by real professionals is considered normal. I advise staying away from this company and purchasing your equipment from truly professional and properly trained technicians.
They have refused to respond to our letters. I believe that for them, a poorly done job that needs to be corrected by real professionals is considered normal. I advise staying away from this company and purchasing your equipment from truly professional and properly trained technicians.
However, the installation process was fraught with issues.
The technician assigned by Waterworks lacked experience and familiarity with such advanced equipment. Not only were the wall mounts installed upside down, but he also couldn't properly connect the control cables. His inadequate skills resulted in damage to our new decking an issue that was just the beginning of our troubles.
Further rectification attempts by the same technician led to more problems. He incorrectly installed pH and chlorine sensors, causing erroneous readings and risking the warranty of the system.
It took an intervention by Poolmart, a competitor, in March 2023 to address leaks caused by these repeated mishandlings.
Moreover, persistent issues with the acid dozer were overlooked by Waterworks' technician. It took a specialist from AstralPool/Fluidra to identify and rectify the incorrect installation of the acid doser's pipes and to calibrate the probes steps initially overlooked by Waterworks' staff.
Despite these challenges, Waterworks insists on payment for the installation, modifications, and rectification work, which we have refused due to the poor quality of service and resulting damage. Contrary to their claims, we have been responsive to their communications but remain firm in our stance against paying for unsatisfactory work.
It's disheartening to realise the potential damage to our credit rating and warranty as a result of refusing to pay for subpar service. However, we're more concerned about the impact of this experience on others and feel obligated to share our story.
We've documented all incidents and possess photos and surveillance footage, attesting to the quality of work performed by Waterworks.
We hope our experience serves as a caution to others considering their services. While we remain open to an equitable solution, our trust in Waterworks has been severely compromised by their handling of our installation and subsequent communications.
Preferred solution: It is important that Waterworks acknowledge that they did not complete their work and that it had to be finished by other qualified technicians. I also request that they waive the labour charges for this installation.
Waterworks, screwed me out of $40000 and didn't finish my pool
- - Accuser says Dan Honig takes money before work and does little.
- - They claim he won't return calls and doesn't pay employees.
Dan Honig is a thief,he does a really good job getting in your front door and telling you what a great job he will do with your pool. He gets your money before he does any work then does a little bit of work to make you think he is trying and then wants more money before finishing the first installment, won't return phone calls, then if you go to his office makes false promises to get you to go away.
When you give the guy the benefit of the doubt all he does is continue to give you the run around.HE doesn't pay his employees and they are the ones who do all of the hard work and also get screwed. If you run across the guy BUYER BEWARE....
PLEASE TRUST ME. Stay clear of this person he is BAD NEWS.
DANIEL E. HONIG(CROOK AND MONEY THIEF
- - Signed in June, paid 27,900; pool unfinished.
- - By Feb 2010, pool still not finished.
- - BBB complaint filed; owner says they were overloaded.
I signed my contract in June and paid 27,900 and very little is being done towards completion. It is now end of FEB 2010 and it is still not finished. My pool has not been completed to date and I keep getting excuses about why it not complete from the Waterworkz. I was so displease I got a laywer and then they gave me a letter stating my pool would be finished by September 19, 2009. Well its October 10 and very little has been done towards completion. I have visited twice in September and they just told me what I wanted to hear to get me out of there. Rick an employee visited my house and gave me samples to pick out again for the pool decking and coping and said he would be back the next day to pick them up. He never came back nor did he answer any phone calls from me. Not to mention this was about the third time we have picked the same stuff over and over. It seems like a cover up to buy more time by telling me we have to order materials. This is almost a half year later and I am getting the same stories. I filed a complaint with the BBB in September but little has happened since then. I have been told by Dan Honig the ownwer that they took on morer than they could handle. Is this fair that my family has to suffer the emotional stress and abuse after they have taken our money. All I have ask is for them to honor what they said and what we have paid for. What happen to the other complaint I filed ? Did anyone say it was resolved because it was not and the work still has not been completed. I have tried to trust them several times but the lies never stop coming. I would gladly have someone else finish my pool if they would refund my money. I have not been able to use my back yard since June because it has been torn up with all the constuction that has not been completed. All I have ask from the begining is for them to complete the pool. I have been seen by so many of there employees until I am begining to think that no one stays employed with that company long. Please do not deal with any of these companies or personel because they are all rip-offs and scam artist They are all owned by Dan Honig and he hides behind them all. He is a Criminal.

Waterworkz Pools, Daniel E. Honig theft of service
- - Water Workz contract for 31,000; 27,900 has been paid in installments.
- - Work not completed; contact failures; BBB complaint; liens; bankruptcy.
My wife and I started looking around for pool builders in May 09 and after checking with several different builders and the Better Business Bureau we selected Daniel E. Honig with Water Workz pools.
We signed the contract on 17 June 09. The total amount for the pool was 31,000. Dan was a smooth talker and little did we know what would lay ahead. Chris Houk was a Manager for Dan at the time and had taken us around to look at pools they had built.
I am retired military and now have a job working as a Defense Contractor for Raytheon Company so I travel quite a bit with the Army. I had to leave for Afghanistan and Dan assured me that everything would go as planned and my pool would be done in about 45 days and they would stay in touch with me and my wife. Dan took the first installment of 6,200 on 18 June 09 and they dug *** in my back yard . They took the next installment of 6,200 on 13 July 09.
At that time the pool was at the stage of putting the rebar in and some plumbing. On July 17, 2009 they took a installment of 9,300 and Dan told my wife this was for the Gunite and to order tile and coping. Dan came by my house and spoke with my wife and said he needed another installment for 6,200 on July 24,2009 to purchased the final equipment for the pool such as pumps and decking . This was when things went terribly wrong.
Dan could not be contacted by phone and at the business phone you always got the answering machine. After no one had showed up for several weeks, I started trying to contact them even though I was still in Afghanistan. I had written emails to Dan and got no reply so I emailed Chouk Houk thinking that he still work for Dan. He emailed me back and said he no longer worked for Dan because he could not pay his people or subs.
I began to worry at this point because no one had contacted neither me are my wife to say what was going on. Finally on August 13, 2009 Dan replied to my email and apologized and told me that Killeen was giving them a hard time with failed pool inspections and said that he would correct things immediately. Another week passed by and no one had showed up and he would keep telling my wife that some one is coming to work on the pool but no one would ever show up. On August 30, 2009 Rick Salinas another so call Manager email me and told me no one had scammed me and that my tile and coping had been ordered and he looked forward to the completion of my pool.
On September 2,2009 I received a email from Rick that said the project Manager said my pool would be completed in two weeks and that all materials had came in to complete the pool. I returned home from Afghanistan on September 6,2009 and I visited the Water Workz office down in Austin, TX. There I met with Dan and Rick and neither could keep their lies straight contradicting each other. Then I found out that nothing had been ordered and I ask what happen to my 27,900 I had paid.
They both stood there with a dazed look on their faces. They had the secretary write a memo for me saying the pool would be finish in 2 weeks and that was just a lie to get me out of there office (see attachment 10). On 16 September 2009 I file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (see attachment 11). I spoke to Jennifer Smith with the Better Business Bureau(jsmith@***.bbb.org), They told me there was nothing they could do because Dan does not answer his phone and they had left messages.
I asked how could that company still be accredited by their site if he is ripping people off. She said as long as they pay their dues, they only get looked at once a year. Now it seems that Dan had new employees now and he was sending them to tell me lies to lead me on. I met with Bob Salinas who said he was the General Manager for Water Workz and that he had been given the mission to see that my pool was completed because it had been long overdue.
I spoke with Mike the new pool builder now for Dan and he gave me the same snow job. Bob sent me a email on 5 October 2009 saying he had a good feeling about completing my pool and I have not heard or seen him or Mike the pool builder anymore.(see attachment. I hired Dan Corbin Attorney at law to represent me and what I began to learn was shocking (see attachment 13). Dan had filed a chapter 13 bankruptcy in Jan 2009 and had continued to scam people.
Dan never replied to the letter from my attorney and would not answer any phone calls from them. On October 26,2009 I received a letter from Diamond Gunite(Benjamin Gonzales) saying they were going to put a Lien on my home for 3220.00 because Dan never paid him for the gunite. I spoke to Benjamin and Dan owes him a lot of money also and he would be willing to speak on my behalf. I had no ideal that this scam ordeal was so big and Dan had taken a large sum of money from a lot of different families and never completed any jobs.
Dan has scamed customers in amounts that range from 20,000 all the way up to 100,000. All are willing to see justice for Daniel E. Honig. I have a lawyer and have filed a police report and I will get that crook eventually.
He mess with someone that won't quite until justice is served.
In the Killeen daily Herald on 13 Nov 2009 there was a police report for a theft of services in Copperas Cove, TX for 40,000 for a Pool that was never completed. That was Daniel E.
Honigs work with another customer he had scamed. Please do your homework and don't be fooled, he is a crook and scam artist.

Beware of waterworkz,waterworkzpools,designworkz
- - Dan Honig of Waterworkz is accused of poor customer service.
- - The reviewer says phones were shut off and projects delayed; claims Chapter 11.
If you bought a water purification system from Dan Honig who is the owner of waterworkz then everyone knows there is absolutely no customer service, this guy had people sell a bunch of systems and shut off his phones and moved. He owns Waterworkz pools, sells a pool digs *** and collects a check and then takes his time for 6 months to a year to finish it.
Designworkz is his remodeling company and will be the worst experience of your life, instead of repairing he destroys homes.
He is in chapter 11 and broke. Beware..Call anyone else.

I just got through writing a complaint about Dan Honig and waterworks and happened to run across your complaint. It is amazing I wrote almost the identical story that you did other than I left out Rick SAlinas and BOb Salinas who are just as bad as Dan Honig. Everyone needs to be very careful with these guys..they are bad news
He is now doing business under AusTex Pools & Spas out of Austin Texas...BEWARE and this is as of June 2011.
