Waterford Commons in Manchester overcharged and did not return deposit
- - We spent 10 hours cleaning and shampooed the rug.
- - We were charged the deposit plus rug replacement, totaling over $2,000 and threats of collection.
Our house burnt last year and our insurance company put us up in Waterford Commons in Manchester Ct. 06040. When we left the apartment we spent 10 hours cleaning,shampooing the rug and cleaning all kitchen surfaces. We notified the office that we were done and they said that there was no one available to verify the condition that morning. We left the keys in the office.
They later sent us a letter saying that they not only were not returning our deposit but we owed an additional amount to replace the rug. We had dogs but had paid the dog deposit and had walked our dogs daily and at night. Also when others had moved out of dog allowed apartments they had the carpets shampood.Not only had we had the tragedy of the house burning but they then took advantage of us because we were responsible for the deposit.
We ended up losing over $2000 as they threatened to turn the unjustified debt over to a collection agency.
