Terrible terrible and more terrible

The worst experience I've ever had in any restaurant in my life. The food was inedible, and the service was awful. The idiot manager, Dennis, was running the day there.

Bad bad service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My husband and I stopped to have an early dinner at the Walnut Grill in Fox Chapel on Sunday, February 16, around 3 pm. We ordered the pretzel sticks for an appetizer, and I ordered the 8oz filet with mashed potato and chicken noodle soup.

My husband ordered the filet medallions with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The appetizer took over 20 minutes to arrive. The waitress never came back; we had to ask the bartender to get us more cheese for the pretzels. Once the dinners arrived, the mashed potatoes were just a baked potato taken out and mashed with a fork and it was cold.

The chicken noodle soup had only one noodle and no chicken. The waitress never asked how everything was and was nowhere to be found. My steak was dry with no flavor at all. This dinner was not worth the 90 dollars we were charged.

I was absolutely disgusted. I was so mad that I left the bill money and receipt on the table because we could not find the waitress to pay.

I just like it when people who are old enough to be married behave like children. 20 minutes is not that long of a wait.

If you are that impatient, yo can ask for a children's menu and crayons. They have activities for children to fill out. Or cook at home.

They probably had to prepare the appetizer you impatient child. Unless you did not eat any of the food, you are NOT entitled to a refund.

The time to request a refund or better food is while you are there at the restaurant!

Well when noone is around what do I do, just leave without paying!!

How did the bill arrive at your table? Someone had to have brought it.

You asked how did the bill arrive at the table. I notice she is avoiding that question.

Strange and suspicious. She probably is an entitled brat that thinks she is the most important customer. A Karin, she needs to have someone just like her.

Someone who thinks they are more important than the other customers in the restaurant. Also, it is funny how she is avoiding that question.

But if you ate the food, you just cannot ask for a free meal. I think you need to stay at home, or eat fast food.

First of all fast food is within your budget, and second, you are not mature enough to eat at a dining restaurant, because you are impatient. You may be very well old enough, but you are not mature enough. How would you like it if your husband expected you to make his food in 20 minutes. The waiter has to first give the order to the kitchen, then they have to prepare it.

They also have other customers besides YOU. You are not the center of the universe.

The world does not revolve around you. 20 minutes is not that long you entitled child.

That, and only if they did not eat the food. Sadly, a lot of people want food like steak and lobster. They cannot afford to pay for that kind of food, They eat the food, and lie about it being raw, overcooked, burnt, cold, salty, just to get a free meal.

Pheng Oxq

They cannot, because they ate the food and will be denied the refund. Since his poor lady works at a restaurant, she already knows this.

So she needs to wait until she gets home and lie, hoping they believe her without proof, of the food she and her husband ate.

What a shame. She has no shame begging for a refund.

Guest

You are not entitled to a refund. You needed to speak to a manager to voice your concerns and see what he would do.

It’s not fair to the restaurant to not be aware of your issue as it is happening. You should have put the same effort into locating the manager as you did the bartender for some cheese.

There was noone in the place but the bartender. I am entitled to something.

I work in this industry and I know how to treat people. She set the check on the table as she sat the food down and never came back. This is *** service.

Obviously you have no clue how to run around business or how an employee should treat the guest. I should not have to run around the store to find anyone.

You most certainly do if your waitress is M.I.A. and your food is poor enough that you are thinking compensation.

I would think if this person worked as a waitress, they would be more understanding than demanding. That they would know you cannot give a refund to those who actually ate the food.

It is a shame that she is doing the same job, and is mistreating others in her line of work.

She needs customers that are just as selfish, demanding, deceiving, bratty, immature and impatient like her. I wonder why her husband doesn't divorce her.

Pheng Oxq

The only thing you are entitled to is an apology. NOT A FULL REFUND FOR FOOD YOU ATE.

With your poor English, the only job you can do is work in the food industry. If you really worked in the food industry, you would know that food takes time to prepare. That a 20-minute wait is not that long of a wait. You would know that they cannot give free food to every beggar.

They only give refunds if the food was not consumed. I just hope that the next time you got to work, you have to deal with an impatient bratty, and childish customer such as yourself. Judging by the amount of entitled people on this site, you probably will.

Or perhaps none of this really happened, and you are trying to make your competition look bad. I just hope you have to deal with impatient, bratty and childish customers like yourself.

If you could get the bartender to get you MORE CHEESE THAT YOU ATE WITH the bagals, you can also get them to get your waiter. NO EXCUSE FOR TRYING TO GET A FREE MEAL.

I bet these LIARS had no issue eating the food. If they had no issue eating the food, they should have no issue paying for it.

If they cannot afford to they should visit a soup kitchen or cook at home. They can also order something within their budget or go to a fast food place.

DONE !

No. They have ignored us. I will never consider Walnut grill for dining out again, ever.

Original review updated May 25, 2023
5 stars for servers only. 0 stars for overall restaurant, especially food.
On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, my wife and I had dinner at your restaurant for our 42nd anniversary.

This was our decision to give your place a 2nd chance after our Nov 2021 visit for my wifes birthday. That dinner made her sick on her birthday and it definitely was from either unclean lettuce greens or someone in the kitchen failing to practice good hygiene. You brushed that off as coincidence. HA !
You sent us a gift card which we did not intend on using because of that experience, but we decided to give Walnut Grill another chance hoping we could once again have a good meal at what once was our favorite place to eat out.
It was NOT TO BE.

The servers, Brooke and a trainee were terrific, and the service is the only thing we were happy about last night. To play a style of music that a lot of people do not care for is presumptuous. And at the volume level was even more annoying than to try and block out contemporary country crap. But that was remedied when we asked Brooke to see if it could be turned down a bit, which it was, for awhile.

But someone turned it back up ½ hour later.
But that isnt the worst of our experience. The food was absolutely terrible. I didnt want to cause a fuss and send back a Rueben sandwich and cause embarrassment for my wife so I ate it anyway. I never had such lousy corned beef filled with grissle and fat through and through, having to spit a lot of it out.

Her shrimp tacos were bland and certainly not worth $16 as was the Rueben also not worth $16. Even her favorite appetizer, brussel sprouts tasted different and not as good as the many times we have had them before. All in all the dinner was awful. Service again was terrific.

Atmosphere was annoyingly loud with that music. Maybe try and choose music more of a generic blend of rock, classics, even some pop, or just some background sound that wont annoy some customers.
But the main reason we will not be back is that the quality of your food has gone from a solid 8 or 9 out of ten over the past several years to a 1 or 2. What is wrong with your chefs??? Cant they see that fatty corned beef for a Rueben should not be served???

I just dont get what has happened to the Walnut Grill we used to love from 2013 or so until 2020??? Poor management, poor quality control, lousy cooking skills, no palette to test, NO TASTE, etc. We are completely disappointed as this is the 2nd special occasion dinner ruined by your almost unedible food.
Needless to say, we WILL NOT RETURN, EVER. Dont bother to try and send a gift card as we will not use it to give you a 3rd chance.

If I owned a restaurant I would have been embarrassed to serve the kind of slop served to us last night. EMBARRASED ! I may send this to your corporate HQ as well as posting on Google etc.
Id wish you luck with fixing things there but after several attempts to give constructive feedback to you over the past few years, I gather that you just dont care.

Your chefs should be ashamed. Your management should be even more ashamed.

Complaint about the veterans duscount

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

After we asked the waitress if the veteran deal was still going on for the first Tuesday of the month. She stated yes.

We had three veterans at our table. We ordered and ate our food. No complaints on that. But when we got our bills only one veteran was given the promotion and she stated that now it is one veteran per table.

She called the manager over and she said she couldnt do anything to change our bills. I think we should of been told before we ordered. Very disappointing.

We wont go back. This restaurant was in Collier Twp in Pa.

Staff asking personal for oersonal medical info

Today I visited your perry highway location. I enter the resturant with out a mask.

And was grilled by your hostess on my vacination status. She stated i needed to answer pruor to being seated. This information is covered under medical privacy laws and should not be asked in the manner it was in front of a restaurant full of people. My husband respond, but i felt this was a clear violation of my right to confidentiality of my medical info.

I am strongly considering discuss this with my lawyer. As on your door it clearly stated fully vaccinate individual do not need to wear a mask.
