AI Highlights
  • - Account set up by in-laws; wrong routing number caused bounced FICA payments and a $900 IRS fine.
  • - Widow on SSDI who lost her bank and debanked.

This account was set up by my late in laws in the 1980s I was the third generation account holder. WAFD used to be the best bank.

They gave me the wrong routing number and my FICA payments bounced. They would not take responsibility. I was fined $900 by IRS. Im a 63 disabled widow and was hit by a motorcycle and have to walk everywhere.

I lost two debit cards from not having corrective lenses. I had a home invasion and the last was stolen. The board debanked me. I have no family, no car, no job and lost my bank.

My back pack had a rip my husbands safe deposit box key was lost. They wanted 200 dollars now its 350 and Im on SSDI. They never help when they have me the wrong routing number. I was never issued a key they say I was given three.

My late in laws had two issued in the 1980s when I lived with my parents in Texas. I had my husbands due to my vision loss it dropped out of my backpack. I am a living on Social Security Im struggling to make ends meet. I went in person and was speaking to a female teller in a normal tone, volume and rate of speech.

This tall white man said Ill speak to you about this while rushing up to the counter like I was a threat. I did not have a weapon or even an umbrella. A hand bag is threatening? I have PTSD and did not feel comfortable with this man barging into a normal discussion.

Another time I was requesting copies of my business statements to do my taxes another young man interrupted me and said you dont need those for your taxes. I said you do if you own a business and its a S-corp. This branch is in South Tucson and its as if I have been profiled to not be capable of owning a business. I used to do quite well making 12,000in my best month.

Sadly my success was affected by budget cuts.

I needed their help and the stability they provided. If my husband was alive they would not have kicked me out and treat me like Im a high school drop out and not a masters prepared psychiatric nurse practitioner.

User's recommendation: If you are elderly, widowed or disabled do not use this branch they discriminate

There’s not one detail you wrote that shows any discrimination whatsoever. You appear to think they are some combination of paid caretaker, attorney and assistant.

They are none of those. Get in. Ask for what you need. Then leave.

No stories and no excuses needed. No in-laws, no husband, no SSI, nothing.
