So regreting using VOLUSION

They sell you the idea that you are getting a great deal and are able to help but it is all to get you to sign up for more, and more, and more. They are NOT set up to make anything easy.

They do not show up on lists of "select your service" so NOTHING is easy. I have wasted WEEKS trying to set things up. I had Google verified and then it went away, have tried every which way to configure and cannot.

Initially PAID to have them help me on the phone and then got call after call to spend more money to set up this and that. Spent days trying to get Paypal to work on my site.

So many things went poorly that my experience cant be unique. Go sign up for the free trial and within seconds!

you will get a Sales person chat started. Before you can even respond to the chat window - have your phone handy because a second salesperson will likely be calling you on the spot as well. I had a Shopify store and had some very specific technical challenges. The salesperson did some checking and gave me every assurance they had my needs covered.

(It was a bit off putting how much they talk-trashed their competition on the phone, but let that slide. I kinda liked the competitiveness but in hindsight it should have been the 2nd red flag). They signed me up for the Premium package (Despite me asking for the Basic) but they said that I can change it before the first 30 days. I cant decide it this should have been the 3rd red flag or if the fact they glossed over the "Free Trial" time should have been the 3rd one.

Still - gave it a go - I wanted my technical challenges addressed. Premium Support has limited hours and only sometimes did the 6 step automated router system even recognize my store ID. Still they had 24/7 chat which was heavily used by me (although did not justify having a "Premium" account). The chat support says "Most requests answered in under 30 minutes" however my experience was more averaging 3.5 hours.

The folks are SUPER nice, but be prepared to learn on-the-job with them (Google searches helped us both along on more than one occasion, especially pertaining to DNS where the original instructions provided and the back and forth on chat over days resulted in my company not having mail for almost 4 days). My account Rep and their support did try and tackle my technical challenges - however their solutions we mostly finding free code on the internet and trying to figure out how to implement. One rep was even proud of himself for hacking a JotForm so it no longer had as many "Powered by JotForm" pieces displayed on the form. Not ideal - but it was functional.

In the end - I became too much of a pain for Volusion in trying to get what was promised that they no longer wanted my business. The final correspondence from them was "Per our Terms of Service, which were in place prior to your hosting plan purchase and are still in place today: "We reserve the right to modify or suspend all or any part of Our Services for any reason, without notice, at any time." If you wish to pursue legal action against Volusion, your counsel can send any official legal correspondence to this email address, or to the address in our signature below." I admit I am not a typical customer. I had specific needs and assurances were given to woo me from Shopify.

Working with Volusion to learn and grow and actually live up to those assurances resulted in a 2+ month detour, tons of wasted time and money (besides lost revenue) and resulted in my returning to Shopify. Deal with Volusion at your own risk.

Dont buy Volusion.... Lack luster customer service and faulty programming

You simply don't feel safe with Volusion. The website comes with many glitches. Everytime you want to make an update BEWARE because they may or may not mess something up. And if your site does get messed up, they will be happy to charge you a custom coding fee. The customer service varies, but is defiantly on the un-caring side. You ask them a question and they throw an article at you. They don't even bother to help you trouble shoot. If you don't know how to do web design don't get volusion. But thats whole point of buying volusion, you dont know how to make websites. So if you ask too many questions they will serve you less and less its obvious. I highly DO NOT recommend Volusion, terrible customer service, lousy progamming and there are so many other better options.

1st I get a sales person on the phone who tells me the listing tool on Volusion is a 1 click process to send to Ebay and Amazon. I was very happy about that and signed up immediately. The Account Manager then says the Sales person was incorrect and I have to list 1 item 3 times - 1 each for Volusion, Ebay, Amazon separately. I wasn't happy about the deception or lack of knowledge of your own product. So I ask the Account manager if there is Inventory Control and he says yes. He said he'll check on what the time lag was and get back to me. Never gets back to me. A couple days later I get on the phone with another account manager to help me walk through the site and get set up. One of the 1st things she tells me is "I want to be transparent and tell you there is No Inventory Control." I just about lost it. How could 2 people lie to me? Just to get me signed up and take my money? All that for a commission? What a terrible company. I told her all this and she told me I was being rude! What an absolute joke. I immediately cancelled. Now just waiting for my refund. Or they can deal with a chargeback.

Program is a mess!!!! STAY AWAY FROM VOLUSION!

We have been with Volusion for quite some time now, and there have definitely been problems with the whole company. Over the past few months, it has gotten much worse.

Something has gone haywire with the program. Google shopping feeds not working, site maps a disaster, and so many other issues. It is ongoing and their customer service is pretty much non-existent and when you do finally get a response days later, they either didn't read your question / complaint as their answer makes no sense whatsoever, or they simply don't know what they're doing.

NOT WORTH IT AND TIME THEY PAY US!!! For those of you who have had serious issues, please post on Facebook with hashtag #VOLUSIONSUCKS as we are looking to gather everyone for a lawsuit against this terrible company.

TERRIBLE website provider - use them at your peril

I signed up for a 'starter-bundle' for $99 that was to include one month of Premium hosting, one year of SSL certificate, one month of help from a 'Volusion Expert' and $300 worth of advertising credits. After the 2nd month you could elect to go with any of the 4 plans. Then the problems began. There is nothing intuitive at all about their software and there are hardly any guidelines unless you are already a tech guru. For each aspect of setting up your site you have to speak to a different person, when they are available, which if you have any kind of a life or work schedule is very difficult and incredibly inconvenient. One person for design help, another for email set-up, another for store set up, another for payment processing in the store and another for credit card processing etc etc. And none knows what the others are doing or talks to them or even understands anything about other subjects other than their own. No help on transferring emails from one host to another and no notes to guide you. They do not tell you what their credit card processing fees are up front and if you are a small business their fees are outrageously expensive. Had to speak to 3 different people (2 gave me inaccurate and incomplete data) to see if I could use my existing credit card processor and was eventually told 'yes' - but not told HOW to do this. Got charged $139 per month when I had already said that I wanted the lowest-cost option until I could get my store working. Had to fight through 3 different people to get a refund. Apparently telling someone is not enough, you MUST do it in a certain way online. No notes anywhere that tell you this of course. NOTHING is simple... Decided to cancel with them and told one of the many people I had dealt with, but nothing happened. It took weeks of emails to find the right person, only to be told that you can ONLY cancel online as well. I had gotten busy and did not read that email for at first. As far as I was concerned I had told my 'account Manager' to cancel and assumed it would be done. By the time I realized that it had not been canceled I had been billed 2 more months. No refunds given for the fact that I never ever was able to use the site I purchased and in the end I spent about $350 for absolutely no service of any kind, a lot of frustration and a huge amount of my own time wasted. Stay away. Stay a long way away from Volusion. TERRIBLE product and worse service.

Volusion total rip off pathetic operating system

Singed up 4 days ago for premium service with priority support and my store number is never acknowledged when I call in so I have to sit and wait for hours to get tech support. The supposed account specialist never contacted me to help me.

I spend dozens of hours setting up my products and my main category totally disappears with no way to recover it.

When you do get a live person they quickly shuttle you to an incompetent tutorial. The whole purpose is to force you into paying several thousand dollars for a custom built site done by their staff. out of frustration because their do it yourself site is so complex that no one could possibly build a store on it!!!!

Save yourself some grief and go elsewhere

IT'S A TRAP The most expensive add-ons, we are currently looking to expand our business on the email marketing.So we need the pre submitted information capturing feature and abandoned cart recovery like soundest.com that integrate with Shopify for $24.95 a month.But unfortunately volusion for $1000 a month through rejoiner.com partner. And i want another feature for buyers to leave reviews for the products they purchased and that feature will cost another $1,000 a month through rejoiner as well. For both features that I need I have to spend $24,000 every year while we could be paying less than $100.And Unfortunately they don't allow a third party software Developers integrate with their World War 2 template.They will make it nearly impossible to grow when you want to unless if you let them and their partners rob you first. They make you trust them, you work hard on building your store and improving your ranking and do a lot of marketing and that's of course extremely costly, then when you try to grow and expand you will feel that you are very limited unless if you pay nearly 90x times for similar features that Shopify offers through their partners. And the problem if you want to migrate the Shopify template the possibility that you will lose your SEO ranking is very high. That's how they get you and make 50x times more money than the plan they started you with. Sorry and I hate to say that but it's a very bad experience to feel trapped Unlimited unless you agree to get robbed.

Horrible company to get involved with dont fall for the hype !!!

We opened a volusion ecommerce store earlier this year, we had been selling on ebay for over 11 years successfully so we are not newbies at selling online, volusion sold us a bill of goods with theyre sales pitch of how if we host with them and use the shopping cart and credit card processing everything is protected and how much they fight for theyre sellers in case of chargebacks. Well in 3 months we had one sale, although our hits on the site were well over one thousand a month, what we found was that most of the hits were being produced by software within the site (volusions) itself. We made one sale after 3 months and after shipping the product we recieved a chargeback stating fraudulent use of the card, we sent the documents from volusions software showing that 3 forms of verification was done and the cc company returned the money until the case was resolved.

this is when the problems really started as the cc company returned the money to VOLUSION and not the bank account they took it from, VOLUSION then promptly closed my merchant account and told me it would be 180 DAYS until they would release it.

the credit card company then resolved the chargeback finding against me again and took the money again from my bank account..not from the people they returned it to..which was volusion..so im now out the 150.00 dollar cost of the product and 450.00 that has been taken from my bank account..

This has been one of the worst experiences of my selling career and i will never do business with them again and if your smart neither will you.

Terrible SEO and Design Teams

I have operated a volusion webstore for 5 years, after hiring their "design team" to redesign our website we totally lost all of our SEO rankings. Not only was the design team terrible and slow to respond, they will not correct the custom coding done by them which caused my site to be penalized by google.

After spending excessive amounts of time and money with this company I am perplexed as to why they wouldn't even try to help. They have completely lost their ability to prove themselves to me.

I own two stores through them and will be migrating very soon to Shopify. Buyers beware.

Take them off of your list for consideration

Just don’t do it. Save yourself the trouble. These are direct quotes from their automated emails to me after paying for a premium template ($895).“The initial customization on your site is restricted to the spec sheet attached.Items that are not highlighted on the spec sheet are not included within the scope of this project but can be pursued through custom hourly work.” – note – you are not told about the limits of what can be changed until AFTER you purchase.“Our premium template projects do NOT include a phone consultation, however I will be happy to assist you via email.” – note – email responses are taking 3 days so far…When they did a mock up of my website, I was given only a jpg of what it would look like. Therefore I could not check links or view the mobile website. That jpg was accompanied by this message: “If you have any revisions, please try to keep them to one email and provide as much detail as possible as only 1 round of revisions is permitted.”I am grossly disappointed in the quality of my website.

This is what happen, one of your sales mislead me for first place, to tell me if you register for $99.00 we will build eCommerce website for your system, after 2-3 days keep calling and calling and emailing, I find out it is not true then 11/20/15 I cancel my remember ship and go different direction

since that time they never refund my $99.00 and they keep charging me payment we never agree with of $138.74 per month

I find out after they doing last 8 months

I need my money back and I never give up even if they cost me more than what I am looking for

They claim it was $15 per month. It is not. They will charge you $132.00 off the bat. A salesman will contact you before you are able to try the one month for free. The salesman will tell you about an incredible offer that will expire soon. He also will sell you a non-refundable $99 SSL certificate. The trick is that the free templates do not add the totals for the customer - they instruct the customer to add totals themselves. If you would like to purchase a website that will add the total for you, you will have to pay $695.00. The ones on their website that are listed as $150 and lower are all non-responsive, which means they will only work on PC's and not other devices such as cell phones, tablets, etc. I cancelled and they still charged me $132.00. I had to keep making refund requests. They still will not refund my $99.00 SSL certificate which I can't use anywhere but on their website. They claim that is non-refundable. I will make one last demand for a refund and if they still refuse, I will file a small claims lawsuit.

SCAM ALERT - Volusion intentionally misleading

SCAM ALERT - Stay away from this bait-and-switch company that's riddled with hidden fees! Basically everything on the Volusion website and everything the sales people tell you is inaccurate and intentionally misleading.

Absolutely do NOT sign up for their Merchant Account - it looks like a feature of their monthly plan on their website, but it isn't! You're actually secretly signing up for a 3-YEAR contract that's at least $33.50 per month, with a $99 cancellation fee! The term length is not in the contract anywhere, it's on a separate page on their website that you will never find until you get the contract, which has a tiny link to the web page. Who actually reads contract terms?

No one, because you trust a company to be upfront about pertinent information. And that's EXACTLY what they're counting on. Don't pay them for a website that looks like garbage to start with, and definitely stay away from any contracts with them, even if they make it sound like it's a feature included in your monthly service.

They will intentionally mislead you. The sales reps know how to avoid giving direct answers, and their website is just as vague if not completely false.

What kind of business person are you to not read what you agree to? They probably count on people like you as a revenue stream of sorts. The cancellation fee is right there in the FAQ and terms of service that anyone with any sense would read before making a business decision. Oh and recurring charges are there to for all who care to read what you're agreeing to.

Moral of the story, DO NOT AGREE TO TERMS OF SERVICE IF YOU DIDN'T BOTHER TO READ AND UNDERSTAND THEM. Don't be a chump.. OK...

Did the same thing to us too. Royally pissed cause we were told all was cancelled yet that 33.50 charged kept happening for 3 months afterwards.

Refuse to refund the money now!!! Dont use Volusion!!!!

Too many hidden fees

Volusion might be a good platform but I didn't get that far. After comparing platforms I thought I would give them a try based upon their pricing that is on their sales page. What I ended up with felt like I had been bait and switched! Pricing for the plan that I was after ended up being 33% more than quoted. They charged me a bs "PCI service fee" plus sale tax. I am in a totally different state! There is no need to collect sales tax for stated you do not have brick and mortar stores in (at least not yet)! The last straw was that I had to pay extra for a single email account. You can't have a webstore without a functioning email! I felt that if I had been taken for so much at the beginning what was next....well I found out what was nest. Even though I had canceled long ago, they are still trying to bill my credit card! No way! I am happy with the platform I have now and my bill is actually the same as what is stated on their sale page.

I was offered a two week free trial for a free website. I never got anything.

I'm thinking free "so what" Found out they had taken $650 out of my Discover Card. Discover at this time is not going to get my money back?

Contact your credit card, State Attorney General, Texas Attorney General and Federal Trade Commission, that is what I did
