I wanted an AI voice clone service and found Voice.ai. The $4.00 monthly subscription seemed low-risk enough that I signed up with my credit card.

The service itself was nothing special.

The website is confusing and I never got anything useful done with it. I was fine paying $4.00 to check it out, though thats a very reasonable price.

But when I tried to cancel I discovered the real problems.

I could not find a "unsubscribe" or "cancel subscription" button in the Account section. Once I gave them my credit card number, I could find no way to remove it.

Voice.ai directs you to their payment processor, Xsolla, with a multi-step cancellation process that requires a Transaction ID which Voice.ai says is needed, but didn't provide to me.

In fact, they never sent any sort of payment confirmation email or message, which makes it very hard to get help about the subscription, because there is no record of it other than the recurring credit card charges themselves.

I created an Xsolla account to follow the Voice.ai instructions. Two different Xsolla support reps told me they couldn't find any Voice.ai transactions in my account, so they couldn't help.

They said to contact Voice.ai.

I wrote to Voice.ai support twice about the cancellation problems but never received a response.

Voice.ai charged my card again the next month. I disputed the charge and got the money back, but they just charged me again the following month.

I spent about two hours with my credit card company trying to block Voice.ai from future charges. After being transferred between two chatbots and five account specialists, I learned they can't block a specific merchant from making future charges. They said the only solution was to change my credit card number.

Voice.ai says they offer PayPal as a payment option, and I didn't know about that option when I signed up.

I can't speak to whether it's easier to cancel that way.

Total time spent to unsubscribe was about five hours.

There's no excuse for this. To unsubscribe with most companies takes one minute or less.

What started as a $4.00 subscription ended with me having to get a new credit card number.

Cons:
  • No response from customer service
  • No unsubscribe button on site
  • Did not send transaction id with purchase

Preferred solution: I'm not looking to get anything. I just want to share my experience with others.

User's recommendation: Do not give them your credit card. Do not subscribe.
