I brought my car in to VIP in Augusta, Maine because of a bad wheel bearing on the passenger side and told them as much. They took my car out for a 5 minute test and confirmed my diagnosis. They said the wheel bearing was 107.00 and labor would be 96.00. I said a good wheel bearing is maybe 50 or 60 dollars and he actually said yes this is true but your not like eating at home but your eating in a restraunt so the part is gonna cost you more. I...

My son brought his car for state inspection to VIP in Gorham, ME. He came home with an estimate of $441.79 for valve cover gaskets, Headlight restoration and shop supplies. The oil on the engine block was directly below the oil fill tube, the headlights were clear and $30 for shop supplies was unjustifiable. Inspection was declined however he was charged for it anyway. The car was brought to a reputable service center and passed inspection...

This is the third time in three years I have had the same issue when bringing my vehicle to Claremont , NH. Every time I have my snow tires put on they fail to reset my tire sensors and I have to come back to have them fix it. The worst part is I mention this to them prior to having them changed out, just before I go to the waiting room. The tires I swap out are top line snow tires (900.00 for 4) and the tires they swap with snow have less than...

I've been dealing with VIP for two years now. I brought a 96' Honda in with a stalling problem in for a diagnostic last year. After 3 diagnostics, and $700 in repairs, the same problem arose 8 months later. Now another diagnostic, and $1000 in repairs....it is Still stalling. I'm done. They are obviously incapable, or ripping me off.

Went to have a alignment done at vip in farmington me today after i changed my upper tie rod ends and sleeve. Drove off the property a littlw ways and hot a but and got a pretty bad death wobble. When they aligned the front end they never made sure the coupling was tight. The whole bar could spin. This is prettu dangerous because it what keeps ur tires straight.

Could someone explain to me why the tire-service department would sell my wife (I wasn't there, but I looked at the crossover-SUV when she got home), Z-rated tires for an SUV, when the factory ones are H-rated? The tire slap and road noise are awful, and wear characteristics are nothing to write home about. I only had a few vehicles that needed Z-ratings, and those were Porsches. Taking advantage of someone that is not car-literate ranks in the...

Brought the wife's car in to get 2 front tires and an alignment. The tire went flat 5 miles down the road on her way to work carpooling 3 other women. I called to have them fix it .They didn't get back to me.I called again and josh said there was nothing they could do without bringing it in.She limped the car in after a 30 mile commute. When she arrived josh told her to make an appointment for another day. When they did look at it ,it was...

These guys buy their parts around the counter at orielly auto parts located in the same building. they want to charge me 850$ for a part that I can buy for 300$ I'm sure their cost is even less.. what makes it worth 3 times more when they buy it..and they wont install it if I buy it of course... I went in for a belt install and after they removed it wouldn't reinstall belt until I put in a radiator they charged me 500$ for which I could have...

Anonymous They quoted me $1700 for front control arms, rear shocks and rear wheel cylinders (installed). I got the parts myself for $300 and had the work done for about $500. I saved $9...

This VIP is the absolute worst repair shop in Maine.two vehicles in a row, over 5,000$ in repairs but nothing was repaired at all. Had to replace the new tires, they were junk and forming bubbles, exhaust leaked after they replace a cad. Which wasn't bad, lost my center caps to my rims, charged me 300$ for a 59.00$ Distributer and when I got there it wouldn't run at all. They just aren't qualified mechs. They just start replacing parts and hope...

I have been trying to fix things on a car for my daughter . I spent $800.00 dollars at your store to get it right . I could still hear things with the car when I got it back. So I called to see if they could look it over again and he said sure no problem . I told him that I had an other appointment on the day he wanted me to bring it in. It was to do with my airbag. The light is on and I wanted it to get fixed . Your assistent manager told me...

After being up sold, I own that on a wheel bearing that I don't believe I needed, the 'mechanic' left another customer's wheel stud in the brake shoe/drum assembly. I noticed a clicking and metal scratching sound when my kid (his primary vehicle) was pulling out of the parking lot each morning this week. Thinking it was the wheel bearing, I took the wheel off and removed the brake drum...lo and behold I found friggin wheel stud which fell onto...

The last time I was at VIP, I was in the waiting room and watching the mechanics picking things up off the floor and throwing them at each other, using customer's cars as shields so they wouldn't get hit. This looked like a real battle going on ('course it was all in fun, I am sure), but I have sworn off going into VIP ever since then, and that was maybe 5 years ago. I used to go in there for all my regular tire and maintenance stuff; and I...
