First off, let me say Ive always made it a point to support small, local businessesbut only the ones that operate with basic ethics and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
I reached out to this State Farm agency just to get a quote, nothing more.
I never gave permission to start a policy. Yet somehow, two weeks later, I receive a welcome packet and declaration page in the mail. Naturally, I was confused and immediately called the agent. I told him there mustve been some mistakebecause I never authorized any policy.
He apologized, claimed he would take care of it, and told me to disregard the letter.
Fast forward another couple of weeks, and now my mortgage company is reaching out, saying they paid State Farm from my escrow account. Thats when I realized this was way more serious. I called the agent again, and he tells me the policy was cancelled, but it just takes 15 days to update in the system. That was a lie.
I called State Farms 1-800 number myself and spoke to a representative who confirmed the policy was never canceled and is still active.
Meanwhile, my escrow account is now overdrawn because of a policy I never asked for, never agreed to, and never signed off on.
It took me getting corporate involved just to get this resolved. This entire situation has caused me stress, financial issues, and wasted timeall because this agent took it upon himself to start a policy without my consent.
Im warning othersstay far away from this agent. His shady and unprofessional business practices are unethical at best, and flat-out fraudulent at worst.
In my opinion, someone like this shouldnt even be allowed to hold an insurance license. If you value honesty, transparency, and proper consentfind a more ethical agent.
