Resolved: Honda HRV 2016 EX Rear view camera
- - Rear view camera loosened; clip broke, £924 to replace, not under warranty.
- - Honda says fault is not manufacturing or design; offer around £400.
I have had this car from new and it is now 2.5 months old. The rear view camera has worked loose. Took the car to the dealer (Grantham Honda) and asked them to see if they could fix it. After having the car for about an hour they came back to me and said that a little plastic clip that holds the camera in place was broke and it was going to cost me £924 to replace it. And it was not covered by the warranty so it was down to me to pay.
The camera is situated under a metal shroud that covers it and right next to it completely out of sight the button for opening the tailgate. So the inference was that I must have caught the camera when I was searching around to find the tailgate button. It must be very delicate! We had words. The dealer did not want anything to do with it then. He just kept saying that I needed to contact Honda Customer Service. I did this and the made a reduced offer but it was still going to cost me around £400. We had more words. The problem was then escalated but all that happened was that they kept saying that in there opinion "The fault was not a manufacturing or design fault". So why was it broken? I have been into the boot maybe 5 or 6 times since I have had the car. I am not a rough person with my cars. If I was made aware that this was a car that could easily be broken I would never have bought it in the first place.
I am very disappointed with the way Honda have offloaded me and said it was not their fault, so it must be my fault - WHY?
HONDA - YOU HAVE JUST LOST A LOYAL CUSTOMER - 7 PREVIOUS HONDA CARS - 6 FROM NEW.
Preferred solution: Replace the damaged camera at Honda's cost
