If you buy a Vermont Castings stove don't expect any help or customer service from them. You cannot reach them. *** poor.
Encore wood stove access cover is poorly designed so that it is not secure and will eventually begin falling out. The company will not help remedy this problem. Be aware.
User's recommendation: Buy another company's stove that has customer service.

Verified Reviewer New ReviewerIncredible stove!
We bought a Vermont Castings wood stove in 1993 and it served us faithfully until 2013 when our house with the stove burned to the ground in a wildfire. The only thing that survived the 2000 degree fire was the stove. Here it is in 2020 where we are trying to repurpose it.
User's recommendation: great stove!

Intrepid wood stove
Awesome little stove. Bought my first Vermont Castings vigilant call burning stove in 1990. Awesome stove back then. Just moved into a new house with no fireplace. Opted for the Intrepid wood stove it is as well built as my original stove. I have been check my burn times and have it down to a science. I have found that before bed I get a good full ash bed and put in two 4 to 6 inch logs unsplit. I get them burning and close the damper and set the temp up @ 500 degrees. Wake up at 6 am and still have glowing ash with stove surface temp @ of 400 degrees. Not bad for a little parlor stove. Also the coolers are great I got the burgundy. Love my stove!
User's recommendation: Any Vermont Castings stove is superior to all others.

Vermont Castings Intrepid Wood Stove
I am not a rookie with woodstoves, I have owned 5. The Intrepid was in the house I bought a few years ago, the local woodstove suggested a new flue liner, I did that for over $1,000. The fact is this woodstove and I am sure all of this model just plain suck. The books says 4.5 hour burn time, sure if you are not getting any heat out of it and yes I use dry (seasoned) hard wood (mostly red oak). Say hello to slick marketing and the work "Vermont" in the name of a woodstove. Superior to this piece of *** are Russo (out of business) Temp Wood (out of business), Fisher (out of business) and onither one I got out of the want advertiser years ago. Don't believe the Vermont Castings hype. They suck!

Vermont Castings Products
Before you purchase a Vermont Castings product, be forwarned I own a wood stove which looks and preforms its function quite well. As with anything, from time to time it needs some maintenance. This is were things go horribly wrong. This company only deals with local suppliers and have no way for the end consumer to contact the company. It is deliberatly set up this way. The company was apparently horrendously mismanaged. The dealers and any web info makes it seem like everything is perfectly ok with this company, they still have inventory to peddle. If the consumer needs parts for a product, and I would guess warrantee work, there is no support for this. The run around begins and the hope the frustrated consumer gives up. If you purchase one of their products do so with this knowledge

I agree with the Pissed Consumer. I have searched and searched for a valid way to contact Vermont Castings about a problem with my gas logs and have not found a number to where I can get any support. If you are trying to reach Vermont Castings Support GIVE UP, trash what you have and spend your hard earned money with a company that appreciates it and will give you support on your product!!!
