Verified Reviewer |Not a very helpful process
- - Items were not shipped together as ordered.
- - No guidance on pickup, terminals, or forms.
- - Forced to pick up myself; poor guidance.
Won the auction on RB for three identical items and attempted to use Veritread for shipping. The first issue is that the three items were not set up to be shipped at once, together.
Once I had corrected this, there was no help over the phone on how to coordinate pickup, where the closest shipping terminal to me is, or how the process works—other than accept a bid and pray it all works. I ended up having to pick them up myself because of the lack of information, support, or help in transporting simple qty:3, 2x4x3 items that weighed 1200 lbs altogether. Nobody explains the forms needed or the logistics process, and I found the whole exercise to be a complete waste of time and, quite frankly, false advertising about what level of service is really offered.
This was the second time I attempted to use this service, thinking it can't be that hard to figure out. What a waste.
- I received lots of bids
- Confusing and unclear on how and what is needed to ship
Preferred solution: Process improvement.
User's recommendation: Veritread isn't very helpful.

Verified Reviewer |In my opinion ,Fraud
- - They claim RB and Iron Planet are partners, but they don't communicate.
- - Load bids go to brokers who don't own trucks; a $440 nonrefundable fee.
First, they say that they are trusted partners with RB and Iron Planet, with none of them communicating with each other. Then they put your load out to bid with brokers who 'do not own trucks.' When you pick a broker, they want, in my case, $440.00, which is nonrefundable.
When you call the broker, he will tell you that he has no trucks going that way and hints that he may have underbid your load. After 5 days of wasting your time, the broker will suggest that maybe you should look for another carrier. In the meantime, out-of-state sales tax kicks in, and without a bill of lading from the shipping company, you have to pay it or be in default, waiting for your broker to find a truck that he promises to find with no luck!
Do not use these people! These statements are based on my experience and my opinion only.
- There are no pros
- Out my money with no results when i call for service its all my fault
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified ReviewerWorst company ever they lie to customer and shipper and scammed me
- - They lied about the load, used Google photos not of the actual unit, filed a freight guard defamation report to extort 2300, and I filed a lawsuit.
They wanted me to pick up a load, lied about where and what it was. They sent pics off Google that weren't even of the same unit that was actually at the customer.
They lied to the customer, and so I didn't do the load. Then they put a freight guard report (defamation) and tried to blackmail me to pay them 2300 to take the false report off. They have made it very hard to get loads.
I filed a lawsuit against them for blackmailing me and defamation. Be very careful; I have texts and witnesses to back me.
- Have no pros
- Practice illegal activities they black mail shippers and lie amd scam there customers
Preferred solution: I want the false report removed and for them to receive justice for there illegal actions
User's recommendation: Do not use this company be very careful with then if you do
Damaged received to a toolbox I bought.
- - Toolbox damaged on delivery.
- - Driver signed for the damage.
- - Customer claims the company won't pay insurance.
It's been a while back. I just never have put a review in, but I think it's time now.
I bought a toolbox on I think Richie Brothers. Got a quote and used veritread to haul it hauled. When it got here it was really damaged somebody had picked it up with a tow motor and the drawers in the front it must have been next to a wall or something, but it ripped all the handles off and some of the drawers out. This was a large tool box with a table-top on the top and drawers on the side I guess 8 ft long or nine.
I sent pictures and called them. I even had the delivery driver sign that it was damaged when he delivered it. After 6 or 8 months I called them back, and they said send more pictures I'd already sent like 30 or 40 pictures of it you just can never get them satisfied, and they're just taking up time so they don't have to pay. They never intended on turning it in, to their insurance or paying for it because somebody like me, what can I do.
But hopefully this may give somebody the reason to not use them because they really are dishonest people, and they're only out to make a buck.
Thank you and God bless everyone. Thanks for your time.
User's recommendation: I would consider a different carrier. I use them but as you can tell I got no respect out of them.
Bad Broker
- - Brandon Spakowski allegedly confirmed 8.6 ft width, but it was 10.8 ft.
- - Broker refused TONU, wanted the load done and photos before paying.
Please AVOID working with Agent Brandon Spakowski. We booked a load with him for a Komatsu machine with the dims listed on the rate.
At the time we booked the load we asked him to confirm if the machine was not oversized and he confirmed. When driver arrived at shipper turned out the width was 10.8 and not 8.6 as he had confirmed, we provided pictures and measurements as proof. We told him we needed a TONU as we could not do the oversized load. He refused, because he wanted us to load the machine , take pictures of the machine on the trailer to then send us the TONU.
Unbelievable, make the driver work double for a TONU when the Broker did not do his du-diligence to get the correct measurements from the start. This people do not consider the drivers nor their time.
User's recommendation: please avoid this Agent.
Unprofessionalism
- - They won the bid but doubled the quote.
- - They didn't relist the shipment when asked, and prior bids in the same range were unusable.
They decided to win my bid for my shipment then doubled the quote they provided. When asked to relist the shipment they never did and I couldn't use any of the prior bids I received that were with in the same price range to begin with.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution
User's recommendation: Go Somewhere Else
Veritread forces transporters to bid very high to increase profit for Jeff Cox (Owner of Veritread)
- - A 3PL says Veritread shut them off with no warning.
- - They allege Veritread profits drive higher freight charges by Jeff Cox and Brian Ratkovec.
Letter to Ritchie Bros:
To Whom It May Concern,
My employer (3PL) just signed up on Veritread Thursday Dec 19th to ship for your auction customers. We were abruptly shut off in the afternoon with no warning and was told by Andrew Katanick (intern at Veritread) on Friday Dec 20th that the reason being was our LTL shipping quotes were too low and we needed to charge more!
We had 4 active bids and got 2 accepted immediately which we are told gave them red flags. We started to bid on other loads and had 20 more bids out with 174 stored to quote on next. So quoting correctly, honestly and accurately is against Veritreads rules.
To us it looks like, Jeff Cox and Brian Ratkovec are forcing your buyers to pay more on freight so Jeff Cox can make as much profit as possible without any regard to your buyers or how it reflects on your company. I feel that this is not only unscrupulous and tarnishing your good name, it is hurting your buyers and customers by forcing freight charges higher than they need to be.
I was told by Andrew Katanick that Veritread does not have anything listed in their terms of service covering a minimum profit to Veritread other than they can do whatever they want on their site. In summary, your vendor Veritread is forcing your buyers to pay more for their shipping for Jeff Coxs own personal profit/gain. Legal transporters are essentially being swindled by Veritread to charge more for shipping than is necessary.
I would like a reply or Ritchie Brothers to issue a statement on this before I write an article and put up reviews on how Ritchie Bros knowingly allows Veritread to forcibly inflate shipping rates to maximize profit without any regard to Ironplanet/Ritchiebros or your customers. I have left a voicemail for Karl Werner as well in regard to this scam.
If there is no reply from your company this information will get published and we will note that I did reach out to your company for a comment but was ignored.
What I would like to do is provide honest shipping rates to your buyers without your greedy partner forcing businesses and individuals to pay more for shipping only to increase Veritreads profit margin. Obviously carriers are singled out if they force low profits for Veritreads misappropriation.
This needs to stop ASAP.
I am willing to sign a sworn affidavit that this is what I was told by Veritreads representative Andrew Katanick. When the public is aware of this, it will not bode well for your company.
- Misappropriation
- Unscrupulous
- Theft
Preferred solution: Remove their partnership with Ritchie Brothers and Ironplanet to protect buyers from paying inflated fees to Veritread
