Safeguard was a day late for my pickup and almost a day late for delivery! Safeguard showed up with a smaller truck at 930 pm on 6/29/20, did not start to load until 11 pm, then jacked up the original price 3 times more and demanded cash for the stairs and to wrap the TV.

The foreman then tells me to tip his guys well, so my items can get to me safely, can you say extortion? How this company can still legally operate is a miracle, since its literally criminal business antics! The communication between the manager Vanessa and customer was awful, as you are basically ignored! When my TV arrived that I paid extra to have wrapped it was smashed, the antique furniture was damaged, and a deliberate deep cigarette burn was on the arm of the couch!

I guess the $445 cash was not good enough for tip!

The bill went from $1471 to $4912, then I had to spend another $1200 for a UHAUL box since Safeguard never had enough room! Hopefully the Attorney General will shut this and other moving scam companies down for good!

Thousands of dollars in lost and damaged items. Also shady.

For example only 1 TV was recorded on our moving slip (we have 3). Oddly our 70" plasma disappeared. Additionally my wife's jewelry is not here. Boxes has clearly been damaged from being opened and closed again.

What is worst is I cannot get someone on the phone.

If some of my stuff hadn't shown up I'd be sure this is a scam.

These guys charged us $5,000 and then lost and damaged $9,000 worth of stuff. I'd be better off throwing all my items away and just buying brand new things.

I've worked in this industry before and understand the shady elements of the people that can work here, but this is ridiculous.

No accountability, control. So bad that they didn't record items that were either lost (or stolen) and will make it nearly impossible to file a claim for the insurance have with this move.

I went with this company because it was "cheap" - big mistake! They had me run through my items over the phone and then sent me a quote.

When the movers arrived they told me the dimensions for the items were not correct and that they could not take my coffee table because they didn't have room. Also, the movers that came were very unprofessional. One guy came up to my apartment, sat on my couch, and started telling me he couldn't take it all. The other guy was asleep in the truck.

They didn't have measuring tape or enough tape or plastic wrap to pack the large items up. They guy with the paperwork didn't seem to know what he was doing. When I asked about the page for insurance, he shrugged and said "no one ever gets insurance...just sign there." The guys who brought my items were more professional and friendly but anything that wasn't in a box (I boxed my items) had some damage. My couch wasn't even in any wrapping when it was brought into my new apartment.

When I called the next day, I left a message. Two days later, still with no reply, I emailed.

That was about a week ago and I can clearly see how they do business now. Do not do business with these people!

I totally agree with the other reviews out there about this so-called mover company Vanguard Van Lines and its brokers “American Standard moving” It is nothing but a criminal enterprise run by crooks and criminals who feel no shame or guilt. Beware DO NOT fall into their trap, they will quote you a sweet deal then they will jack up the price by more than 200% on the day of your move.

These crooks are running an illegitimate business and taking advantage of people in their most difficult time, i.e.

the day they are moving out, and we all know how painful that can be. I have lodged several complaints with several consumer agencies and I am looking forward to take these terrible human beings to court, that is exactly what you need to do if you were conned by these crooks.

They are very non-professional.

While the time of pick-up. They came about 3 hours late than the two hours window they gave.

Picked up the stuff fine. Then kept it to their storage for three weeks. We kept on calling in between to ask for an update and they kept on telling different dates. Finally, our things came to us.

2 boxes were totally torn out (really? Boxes go break, really?)!! The bed's headboard came out in a weird shape from the straight line!!!!! The office chair's cushion is 70% gone (really??).

To add on that we had 5 boxes less than the quote.

All along the process from the pickup, we communicated that we are to reimburse for the fewer boxes as per the contract. They first said that once the stuff is picked then they will send the check. Then said, once the stuff is delivered then they will give the check. At the time of delivery, we were to pay another half so I said that I would give $52 dollars less for 5 boxes from the total.

The driver said that we have to talk to the company, without having full payment, they cant deliver. So, we obliged (as there's no other option). Roberta and Karen kept on saying that they will send the check for the difference. It has been now for 6 weeks.

I am following every week but they kept on promising different times. If you are stealing someone's money then stop pretending that you are trying to payout.

I used Vanguard Van Lines a few weeks ago. Joshua, the foreman, and his crew met me at my storage unit and moved my things to Los Angeles.

These guys were so fast and on task the whole move from start to finish took a little under 3 days. They did it in Friday afternoon traffic too.

All of my things moved to my new location without any insult.

This is the first and probably last review I'll ever do, and I had to write a review because the service I received from Vanguard Van Lines and Joshua was so exceptional and went above and beyond professional. I would most definitely recommend them to anyone and use them again myself.

I have used Vanguard Van Lines twice and I love this company because they are organized and they take care of everything. I always get 6 movers because it's faster and worth the money.

Each time nothing of my property was damaged and everything was handled with care.

Vanguard Van Lines movers packed and moved my dad from his apartment in New Albany to a small town in San Francisco. – our crew was professional, very hard working, very patient with my dad’s concerns about family treasure and some antiques, and did a fabulous job of packing, loading, and unloading.

Our crew lead was incredible and the whole crew work well together - packed and loaded in one day, and unloaded in 1/2 a day.

Everything arrived in one piece, Manager in the main office kept us all on track with the steps along the way,and it all went as planned. It was worth every penny, very high value move.

I could not be more impressed with Vanguard Van Lines movers. Ronald's communication was prompt and professional.

The guys arrived right on time, worked really hard, smart, and fast and finished everything up in just under 2 hours. You can hire this company with total confidence in the outcome!

Just like other folks reporting negative reviews, our stuff was lost, stolen, damaged or just broken! DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!

1) They hire multiple subcontractors who do NOT care about your stuff. 2) You will have trouble reaching a live person to schedule or inquire about pick up and delivery dates (clue#1 they are not reputable). 3) Did you pay for storage? If so, the storage may consist of simply dumping your items in another truck, an open space, or a place that's wet and moldy.

4) You will be missing boxes, will find crushed boxes and will most certainly have lost/stolen items, as well as numerous damaged and broken items. Think of the luggage folks who throw luggage around like a football. This company and their subs just want your $$ and items. They have NO interest in customer service or moving your items using due care.

5) They will demand postal money order at pick up and the same amount upon delivery. 6) THEY ARE CRIMINALS WHO SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. 7) They are not accredited by the Better Business Bureau. 8) They have an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau.

8) They up charge you, rent Penske trucks and subcontract with drivers and movers. We paid over $10, 000 to move a 2 bedroom condo from Silicon Valley to Kansas.

Heed the warnings of all the negative reviews. The positive reviews are either fake, limited to local moves in California or written by people living in a studio.
