In reading the complaint above you seem "pissed off" because the USBA supposedly ripped you off. It states clearly on the website that you do not "need" a certification to be a bartender however as with any field the value is in the knowledge and skills you have which is what you receive with the book and DVD.

You are absolutley correct in that you can go to a bookstore and get any book, I do not disgree, however for the $89.00 dollars, you receive a comprehensive book, a personalized certification, a DVD and real time job listings in the area of choice, honestly even if you couldn;t get a job for that price I think it is a VALUE. That is just me who has a "certification in interior design" which cost me 10 times more and 3 months to finish. I did not need the certification but when I did received job opportunities it gave me more confidence thus landed more jobs.

Having a "certification" in anything gives one more knowledge, thus more confidence to go out and get the job when the opportunity comes. I think its a bargain and at the end of the day I have the skills to be a great "at home bartender" with a "Bartender Certificate" which I think is pretty cool.

I read the posting above and must comment, first off, I had a great experience with the company and they really helped me learn. And yes, I learned from reading a book, just like the way I always did in school, how to properly open and close the bar, mixing and pouring techniques, Martinis, Rocks drinks, and not to mention their awesome training on Wines.

From reading the postings, which you made, in the name of United States Bartender Association, it is clear that you must be in some kind of competition with them because why would they write that about themselves? Secondly, you never comment on the product, what it's values were and how helpful the DVD was to me, the consumer. I'm sorry "Pissed Consumer" but I did not have $400 to go to a bartending school so I contacted them.

Their service proved invaluable as I know much more now then I ever knew! Maybe, I will get behind the bar, one day, and if I do I would recommend them to EVERYONE.

Usba. Bartendingbartenders.com is GREAT. I recommend them!

I wanted to write a review about a company that I really like. Recently, I was laid off from my job as a teacher and responded to an advertisement online for bartenders wanted.

Not having any experience, I was nervous but I called anyways. I spoke with a very resourceful gentleman named Michael Patrick. He was able to send me a great Bartending Book with over 1500 recipes as well as a detailed description of what to know to bartend. They then had a bartender support agent assigned to me that spent two weeks getting me interviews, and finally I got a great job at the Marriott.

I recommend this company to any and all. Thanks a million!

I am a client of the USBA and am going through their course. The DVD, filmed in my favorite ciry, Laguna Beach, is really helpful.

I had no idea not to scoop the cup into the ice bin because they might crack. The knowledge I gathered for less than $100.00 has been unparalleded.

I went online and looked at different bartending books but I found that there was no curriclum behind them, making them hard to follow. their course got me familiar with pouring techniques, glasswear, mixing, wines, and drink preparations. If you are considering the USBA, ask for Mike Patrick, he helped me change my life.

USBA is just another scam. You can't learn bartending from a C.D.or a book.

I checked out all of the school here in L.A.

and I picked the one in Torrance. All the rest were jokes.

Good Luck.

Phil, How much do you have to pay?

Guest

USBA TRAINED ME TO BARTEND.

Why the harsh words John? Did they not offer you the training?

My girlfriend bartends three nights per wk. You should try it.

How so Fred? I got an email from them and I wanted to give it a try.

Last week I called and registered with the USBA to become a trained bartender I have no experience bartending but the DVD has been really helpful in preparing me for the bar. I was recommended to the USBA by my girlfriend and she has been certified for a month.

The customer service has been great and they have been very helpful. I did my research and think they are the best for the price.
