USA Security store for home security? look elsewhere

About 1 week ago I received a night vision home security system from USA Security store in California. I purchased this full system after a lot of internet research but perhaps not enough. The system included a dvr, four cameras, cables, interconnects, remote; eveything needed to get it set up and going. The lengthy user manual is a translation from Chinese? It is barely clear. Written like a technical manual for very savvy techies, not first time customers needing more of a plug 'n play type direction. The system did not include 3 items listed in the online ad. They made a substitution which works well but didn't tell the customer and didn't say how to set up the new items. I had to call the store and find out for myself about the missing parts. The system did not include a parts manifest. A one page system setup guide isn't nearly enough info. The ad clearly shows one item which did not come with the system. My email to the store principle was met with sarcasm, but I did get the info that the part I thought was to be included actually was not. The dvr works well. The night vision security cameras are less than expected for the advertised quality. Again the technical instruction manual takes much time to understand. Not for a beginner. I asked them more questions via email but got no response. I can't recommend this company due to poor customer service

I'm not at all affiliated with usa security store but I do buy a lot of systems from them and sell and install them. I've honestly never tried their cameras, but their DVR's are great. I have had quite a few out there installed for over 3 years now and haven't had the first problem.

OK, as for the ease of setup for do-it-yourself-ers". They are just as easy as any other system to set up and install. Mine came with decent enough instructions to set everything up no problem. You simply can't expect to be able to set up the network (so you can view remotely and from smart phones) your first time without a learning curve. No instructions are going to make that a piece of cake for MOST first timers, and that goes for ANY cctv system on the market.

As for the cameras, well I've bought MANY systems over the years and one thing I've learned when it comes to quality, and ESPECIALLY night vision...is you really get what you pay for. If they advertised 100 ft night vision and you're only getting 15 ft, shame on them. If not satisfied, you should've sent it back. They guarantee satisfaction or your money back. If not satisfied, why didnt you send it back???

As far as customer service....did you ever call them? (1-40*-***-****) Seriously, every time I call them an Asian lady answers the phone and she is very knowledgeable, but if you ask for "Greg", he's American and very helpful! He actually called ME back yesterday just to make sure I got everything straightened out, after I did a job and their internet was all crazy (nothing on the cctv side of things) but Greg helped me sort it all out. Seriously, if you need tech support always do the CALL option, and NOT email with any company, if you expect support quick. Another thing I like about usa securty store is the fact I've NEVER had to wait in line to talk to anyone, ever.

Good usable info in your review CCTVman. CCTV DRVs are notorious for poor documentation.

Usually a lot of fiddling with settings and router port forwarding is required to get things working for remote view via smart phones.

I learned it can be frustrating and time consuming.
