Refusal to

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Us Engine Production - Refusal to

As a quick recommendation if you dont read any further do NOT, I repeat do NOT give US Engine Production your business, money, or time in any way or form, they are either incompetent and lazy or intentionally dishonest based on the length of time they have been in business I would have to assume they are the latter.

We purchased a remanufactured Caterpillar 3126 diesel engine from them early this year (Feburary, 2020). The engine was received after a reasonable length of time and was strapped down and palletized as would be expected from a heavy, medium duty engine.

Installation went okay and the engine itself ran well and had no issues after our initial 150 break-in miles. So, I would give the initial experience 5 stars. Returning the core long block for credit was where the nightmare began.

After waiting for a core pickup for an extended length of time, the old engine was picked up and delivered back to them. This was an engine core that was running, driving, and working well with no issues other than excess crankcase pressure and low compression on cylinder #2 after an initial compression test.

Once they received the core they denied a full core credit ($2,500.00) stating the cylinder head was bad (had cracks, couldn't weld or fix) and another issue existed with the block (injector cup damage and that the block was "destroyed"). We initially requested pictures of the damage or wear with no response or acknowledgement for the next 30 days. Our only successful phone conversation in mid-summer ended with them agreeing to refund a partial core of $800 due to the unsubstantiated damage but we would only accept the partial payment with photo proof of damage. This was only a verbal agreement from them, nothing was given in writing by them.

They sent timely and frequent emails to us for payment and initial order, but ignored us after core return.

After FIVE more months of ignored emails, non-returned phone calls and contact attempts, on October 29th 2020 the manager (Eddie Bonilla) responded in an email and I quote; Pitted Cylinder head, even if you surface the cylinder head there wont be a head gasket to overcome the surface, also the main cap off the block isnt good. What happened to the cracked cylinder head, now it's pitted? With the refusal to send a SINGLE picture or any hard data to substantiate their claim regarding internal damage, this was completely unacceptable as the only email communication received from them about refusing to refund $2500.00! After initial purchase was complete, the staff was consistently rude, abrupt, and downright irritated to be asked about this during the very short phone call about this issue.

As a very busy and successful light and medium duty production automotive repair shop, we have over 25 years of experience in working with dissatisfied customers and this hits every single red flag for how NOT to respond to a dispute. The poor review quality and quantity across multiple platforms either means you attract a lot of angry, unreasonable people or possibly you have very poor customer service and business practices.

I have never dealt with ANY remanufactured drivetrain company (Jasper, Jet, LKQ, Motorcraft, ACDelco, etc) that has such a screw you and go away attitude over a core charge that is nearly 50% of the entire engine cost! We will be reporting them to the NY Better Business Bureau which they claim to hold an A rating with, hopefully if someone reads this it will prevent them from wasting their year chasing down a shady company.

Alert: Read all Reviews if you plan on using this company. I feel that everything that has been said concerning this company is TRUE!

I know this because my husband I are dealing with the exact things being said. My husbands remanufacture Engine went out with less the 300 miles. This company is the worst! We are in the mist of getting BBB and AG involved.

How sad to spend money with this horrible company. And we are still trying to get the motor warranty taken care with no good results. They are LIARS! Eddie must be the owner.

Don't trust him. He has 30yrs experience of ripping people off.

The customer purchased a 3126 Caterpillar remanufactured Long Block, which carries a 2500 core deposit. A core deposit is charged on certain engines, in order to maintain the inventory at all times, so we have a core to build for another customer.

The customer was informed that the head from his core was not reusable, and he would be receiving a refund of $800. Unfortunately we are short staffed in the accounting department, due to COVID, however there is a check due to go out to the customer on 12/11/20. We have located your head core. The problem is that the fuel injector ports are severely pitted, and will not allow the injectors seal.

THIS CASTING IS NOT REUSABLE. We do have pictures, but are more than willing for the customer to have it checked by a 3rd party of their choosing.

Please call to let us know where you would like the head shipped, and if you would like us to provide shipping services, or you would like to pick it up with your own carrier. THE CUSTOMER REFUSED to pay shipping to his laboratory for examination....why would he do that if he insists his head is good...

Ripped off!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

These people are absolute liars and thieves. On 7/7 I ordered a Duramax LBZ engine and turbo from Steve with a 3-4 week minimum wait time.

Sent c.card info and initiated order but found out from shop following week engine was not needed. Called afternoon of 7/16 to cancel, was told too late in day and call back Monday 7/19. It took until Tuesday 7/20 to speak to Steve, who then transferred me to Daniel. I explained everything again to Daniel who pulled up my invoice and VERIFIED NO WORK HAD BEEN STARTED, NO PARTS ORDERED YET.

He stated that since nothing had been ordered or started on the 25% "restocking fee" (never disclosed until AFTER they had my c.card info) would be waived and I would receive a FULL REFUND. I thanked him and thought that was that. Then received a call from Ethan on Thursday 7/22 who stated Steve and Daniel "miss-spoke" and that I would be charged a restocking fee but they were going to "give me a break" and only charge 10%. Went round and round with him about there was nothing to "restock", no parts were ordered, etc.

I filed a complaint with BBB on Monday 7/26 in that a full refund was the proper resolution. Today 7/27 received email from Eddie that they are keeping the 25% "restocking fee" when all they did was generate an invoice.

I am escalating this further and will be relentless until I receive all my $$ back. I wish I would have researched complaints against them before I ever called as everywhere you look (BBB, Google, Yelp, etc.) it's all the same AVOID THESE THIEVES AT ALL COSTS!!

Very Helpfull

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I called US Engine Production for help with my 2010 Sierra. I asked a lot of questions and told them I was pulling a fifth wheel.

Eddie was very knowledgeable, and suggested ARP head studs ,cause the stock head bolts stretch due to pulling a big load, so I bought a LMM long block with head studs.

He was right, and my truck has never ran better. Like THANK YOU!

HORRIBLE!

They're horrible people to deal with, MOVE ON TO SOMEONE ELSE!

Charged a $750 core charge gave us a $250 credit told us the crank shaft was ruined. This motor ran, just had blow by. We didn't want to go the rebuild route. Should have though!

We call everyday and get shuffled to someone else.

US Engine Production gave the customer $250 out of the $750 core charge, because the crank was bad and had damaged the journals of the block, which required extensive machining to repair.

Bought new motor

Let me tell you these ppl are the worst people to deal with it is totally not worth buying from them. They are rip offs.

I bought a bran new motor from them and was putting everything back together and realized they had the wrong heads on the motor.

So I called and told them I wanted a refund and they said if you cancel there is 25 percent cancellation fee. Just a big pain to deal with.

US engine production sent the correct heads for the engine which was ordered. Unfortunately the customer in this case, ordered the wrong engine.

Scam artists, unqualified service technicians

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I purchased a "Turn Key" remanufactured 6.5 diesel in 2013.

It was supposed to be a back up engine for my fleet and was stored for 12 months before I installed it. When installed, it wouldn't run right. Injection pump had bad optical sensor. Replaced pump, my dime, ran OK but had noisy valve train, like a solid lifted cam. Called Eric, he questioned the timing of the engine, which was correct because I had done 20 of these in the last few years and I have the correct scan tool to do it, but he said it was "Normal".

At 1200 miles, something let go internally, popping through intake sound.

At first he wasn't going to warranty because I purchased the engine over the "12 months/unlimited miles" warranty. Finally they agreed to "go through it" but I had to pay freight back, another $750 on my dime.

When I got the engine back, and installed, the valve train was noisier than the previous engine I sent back. There was also a excessive amount of blowby coming from the crankcase even after 500 miles. This replacement was a different engine because I previously noted the date on the block.

I drove in hesitantly for 1000 miles and the noise in the valve train was a loud tapping now.

I refused to trust these children to do a proper repair so I undertook diagnosis myself. I pressurized the cylinders to replace the valve springs and found 2 of the springs had broken internal damper springs and 2 of the springs had a different style internal damper spring, meaning it was not a matched set. What I also discovered when pressurizing the cylinders to change the valve springs was a massive air leak through cylinders 1 and 5. I reassembled it and put it back into service. The loud valve tapping was gone but the valve train was still very noisy. I know because I have factory low mile 6.5 diesels and the valve train should be silent. I ran it for about 6 months and it developed a coolant leak from the timing cover. They decided to use silicone to seal everything and the silicone seal failed after about 1500 miles. While removing the front of the engine to correctly seal the front of a 6.5 with gaskets, I decided to pull the heads to fix the leaking out of cylinder 1 and 5. Brought the heads to my machinist and discovered there were 2 cracks in 2 different exhaust seats, which wasn't the cause of the leak, and they "knurled" the valve guides to get them in closer tolerance to the valve stems. Now if I were in high school, and the was 25 years ago, I could see this as a possible repair, but now, replacement of the guides is the proper way to fix worn out valve guides with the available inexpensive tooling available. I called Eric and asked him if they surfaced the heads and he said "no they do not". A blatant lie because my machinist measured the pre-combustion cups and the were .010" thinner than original. The leaking cylinders were from poor valve seat contact area, like the stone used to cut the angles was worn out or broken.

I junked the heads. Bought a set of new heads and installed.

I runs better, valve train noise gone but there is still way to much blow-by for a new engine.

Lesson learned. If new is available, spend the extra money and get it.

The children at US Production Engines may be able to talk a good game but the reality is that they are a bunch of punks that don't understand proper machining techniques.

Karma is a *** and it is coming for you Eric.

6.5L Chevy diesel leaking coolant into crankcase.

Us Engine Production - 6.5L Chevy diesel leaking coolant into crankcase.
Us Engine Production - 6.5L Chevy diesel leaking coolant into crankcase. - Image 2

In march of 2014 I ordered a remanufactured 6.5 chevy diesel longblock from US Engines in New York. They shipped it promtly and I installed it in my 1993 pickup.

The oil cooler, radiator exhaust system, hoses, and waterpump were all replaced. The install was conducted carefully following all instructions. Upon fireup the first thing i noticed was rockerarm noise, within a few minutes it was clattering and missing on 2 cylinders. I shut it down and pulled the LH valve cover.

Inside I found rocker arm shaft askew and broken bolts. further checking determined wrong bolts were used on assembly. I called US Engines to inquire about it, they were rude and told me to fix it myself. I had extra parts so i did.

Seemed to run fine. I now have 22000 miles on this engine and it uses a quart on coolant dayly. I called US engines again to inquire about it, they were condesending and rude. Told me I must have overheated it or otherwise abused it and the warranty was void.

This engine besides being carefully installed, has been gently used and never overheated. I am very dissapointed with the poor quality of this engine and with customer service at US Engines. I was sold a motor with a bad block and they wont back it. DONT BUY AN ENGINE FROM US ENGINES!

YOU WILL BE SORRY! THEY ARE A RIPOFF OPERATION! I LOST $4000!

And now i get to replace the engine again. Will buy from a reputable outfit this time.
