Urban Northern Coops - Overall Satisfied

Purchased a Resort coop in February. Shipping was quick, however I did have some minor trim damage to one side of the roof and a nesting box lid.

(I live in CT so it was a long transit). I reached out to Urban Northern and they were responsive, right away asking for photos, within 2 weeks they had shipped out new parts. I also appreciate they clearly list the dimensions, that way you know how many hens works for you, some places have stipulations and being able to calculate the square footage was helpful.

I have been using my coop about 7 months have no issues have arose, I do plan to paint or seal my coop prior to the wet season kicking in. Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase.

User's recommendation: If you are looking for a kit style coop that ships quick and assembles easily this may be for you.

Urban Northern Coops - Overall Satisfied

Ordered a Resort Coop in February. Shipping was quick, however some of the trim on the edge of the roof was damaged.

I reached out to the company, who did respond quickly. They did ship out new trim within about 2 weeks time. Dimensions were clearly listed which I appreciated as you will want those to determine hen capacity on your own (they list recommendations). I have had the coop 7 months and will be painting it here as recommend before going in our wet rainy weather of fall/winter.

No other issues have arose. Overall satisfied with my purchase.

User's recommendation: If you are looking for a coop that ships quickly, is easy to assemble and doesn't break the bank then this will suit your needs.

Roof Came damaged / never received replacement

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Roof panel arrived damaged; replacement promised but never sent.
  • The coop breaks within a month; 6 hens advertised, it fits 2; Temu price check.

Kit came with a damaged roof panel. Reached out to the company via chat, but can't be at my computer asked if I could text instead.

I was told yes and that they would look into the roof replacement. Sent pics of the damage of the roof panel, and after 3 days of no reply from text I chatted again and was told that they respond better to chat. I was told in chat that they would send out the replacement roof panel the following Monday. Roof panel replacement never came.

Stopped fighting for the replacement because the coop is literally a piece of crap. everything started breaking after less than a month as everything from the wood to the parts is very cheap. Ad for the coop we purchased stated it could hold 6 hens. It can barely hold 2 comfortably.

Last straw came when we found the same coop on Temu for about 1/3 the price.

We are doing what we should have done in the first place and purchasing a replacement coop from fleet farm made from sturdy material. I cannot prove that they resell temu coops, but it is very strange that the exact same coop is being sold there.

Cons:
  • Very cheap coop that does not live up to how it is advertised

User's recommendation: DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY

Urban Northern Coops - Nothing else available for the price!

Worth ordered a coop for about $1,000. Shipping was included, which is nice!

Shipped fast via ups, but after it shipped I needed to cancel for financial reasons, but the fee was too much for me to lose. In the end, it has been worth it!

Pros:
  • Fast delivery
Cons:
  • Cancellation

Preferred solution: Apology

User's recommendation: Worth it for the cost of wood!

Product is terrible

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Poor quality coop; predator resistance is weak.
  • Sized for 8 but fits 6; returns denied after move; 25% restocking.

Purchased a chicken coop thinking I was supporting a family business with USA made products.

Received a poor quality product. The coop is rated as predator resistant.

This coop would not cause a raccoon or a fox or a mink to hesitate. The only reason our chickens aren't dead is because the coops is inside because they are inside a fenced in areas.

The coop is rated for up to 8 chickens. It barely accommodates 6.

The coop is rated for cold weather. I can guarantee you if I let our chickens stay in that coop over winter, they would die.

The hardware is cheap and cheesy.

The chicken wire can be cut with a grade schooler's scissors.

We were not allowed to return it because we were unable to return within 30 days due to a move. Plus there would be a 25% restocking fee.

When contacted - the only solution offered was to sell the coop to someone else in our area. There is no way we would get over $100.00 for this thing if anyone saw it before purchasing.

The design is nice. The quality is crap.

I found out after the fact that this company has been ripping off people all over the country. There is a warning on backyard chickens not to purchase from them.

Tractor Supply Store has a legit predator proofed coop that has heavy gauge metal as opposed to this one step above aluminum foil.

Loss:
$800
Cons:
  • Poor quality product
  • Not made for inclement weather
  • Not predator proof

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Do not purchase unless you live in a good climate, only have two chickens and there are not any predators in your area. Oh - and if you like overspending by 80% on a product.
