Use the USPS. Avoid these shysters.

Original review May 29, 2025

I sent three ceramic plates wrapped in bubble wrap, surrounded by peanuts, paper, and corrugated cardboard, in a box that was covered in fiberglass reinforced tape. Shipped UPS Red.

It was delivered with broken plates and evidence that the box had been crushed. $300 to ship! UPS Capital took three weeks to review, decline, and tell me that packing 'did not meet their standards.' Huh? What are those?

When were those communicated? Why did they accept the package (and money)? These folks are cheats.

I'll stick with the USPS and/or FedEx going forward. Lesson learned.

UPS Capital is Engaging in Fraudulent Billing Practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Undisclosed charges for canceled shipments and unused labels.
  • Over two years of billing issues; audits ignored; policy not disclosed.

I strongly advise against using UPS Capital Insurance. After being a customer for over two years, I discovered they were charging me for insurance on canceled shipments, and voided labelsdall without any disclosure.

Despite repeated emails requesting an audit, UPS Capital ignored my inquiries and continued overbilling me.

I finally had to cancel my account when I realized they had no intention of correcting their fraudulent billing.

When I finally spoke to billing on the phone, I was told for the first time that they charge for labels even if they are never used. This critical policy was never disclosed when I signed up, and it resulted in thousands of dollars in overcharges over time.

UPS Capital refused to provide an audit when I requested one months ago, even though their billing department admitted they can track unused labels.

This means they had the ability to correct their mistakes but chose not to.

I strongly recommend avoiding UPS Capital if you value transparent and ethical billing. Their lack of accountability and unwillingness to correct fraudulent charges should be a red flag to any business considering their insurance services.

Loss:
$5000
Cons:
  • Rates went up and they began billing for packages never shipped
  • After 2 years

Preferred solution: Price reduction

User's recommendation: Stay Away
