AI Highlights
  • - ER prioritized Covid swab; no tests.
  • - Baby discharged with no meds or diagnosis.
  • - Three days later Covid negative; strep/ear infection diagnosed.

Patient care declined since Obama care and Covid19! True story at Batson\UMMC in Mississippi in August 2020.

Baby arrives in ER with symptoms of high fever at 103, diarrehea, not eating and pulling on ears. Immediately all they care about is swab testing baby for covid19! No blood test, no urine test, no stool test (which was quite available), no throat or ear test. Just swab for Covid19!

Baby not admitted and sent home with no meds, no diagnosis (even though discharge papers referred to "viral infection" and to go home and wait 3 days on results. 3 days pass, results are negative and baby is worse. No other clinic would see child until covid19 results were returned. Baby is taken to local pediatrician at 4th day.

He takes blood and a sample of stool and test throat and ears. Child had severe Bacterial infection with advanced strep and ear infection with wax impaction. All of this could have been done simultaneously at the time of covid19 testing but Batson ER refused. Interestingly Batson\UMMC submitted claim to insurance with a code of life and death for insurance payment.

Now, if they coded as life and death testing why didnt they admit her? This could have resulted in a very bad event with child sent home to wait plus they refused to do any other testing. It is ridiculous! All fie money?

And was the baby counted against statistic of Covid19 or viral infection once the results were returned as negative? Someone needs to step in and find out what the *** is going on!!!!

Cons:
  • Lost good pediatric docs last few years
  • Focus was on only covid19 testing and nothing else
  • Patient care

Preferred solution: Improve! Remember your oath!

User's recommendation: Be your own patient advocate and don't trust the healthcare system
