Dear Sir/Madam,

I can't submit a ticket because I don't have a service account with the University of Calgary. I was a student about 20 years ago. But I was told to contact you, so here I am.

I have tried contacting the library, president, and every department I could, through email, to request the removal of my private information in several emails, however, I think I only receive an automatic response from a computer or a worker without any consideration of my request.

I would then like to request through this platform, that my information being published on the University of Calgary or the library website be removed.

My full name, abbreviated name, name of my thesis, date of my thesis, supervisors, and a link to the thesis or more information about my thesis is being shared internationally on the library and the University of Calgary website. If I type my name, this information appears. I do not want this information published on the University of Calgary website.

I understand that the University of Calgary has its own policies about what counts as private information and whether the university or library should take that information down if the information at the university qualifies. However, any policy that the university has about private information must match privacy legislation, in my case in Canada.

Currently, although my birth date or other similar information are not shared on the university's website, my legal full name and abbreviation is shared, which counts as private information under privacy legislation. I have a right to protect this information from being shared under privacy legislation, and the university cannot ignore this legislation or my request to protect my private information.

Other private information about myself is also shared, like where I went to university, the year I went to school, the name of my supervisors, the title of my thesis, and sometimes my political views by the actual thesis or just information about the thesis. The university might not consider this private information about myself, but it is private information under privacy legislation.

Since this information belongs to me and not the university or anyone else, I have a right to decide whether this information is allowed to be published.

I understand too that when I finished the thesis, I signed a form to allow the library to have a copy of my thesis. But I did not know I was agreeing to a digital copy that could be shared internationally on the Internet. I do not consent to this and did not consent to this in 2006.

Privacy legislation says that I must consent to the use of my private information. I would then like to request through this email, that the university takes down this information, and the thesis if it is shared too, otherwise the university is acting against laws. If you could please send a verification that you are taking down this information, I would appreciate it.

Thank you,
