Your agents litterally have to answer the phone when agents call instead consumers calling and calling leaving voice mails and no call backs.

Does not send the money on to the creditor

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have contacted Bradford exchange/Hamilton online to check my balances. I had 5 items go to collection.

Hamilton is still showing balances due on items I have paid off and no notice on 2 items that I now have a small balance on. For a while, Universal was calling all the time, even after I had agreements. They said they would only stop calling if they had an agreement where they take the cash out of my account and not a promise to pay.

No one seemed to know that someone else had just called me and I had to start all over again. I had to just start hanging up on them.

Universal Fidelity - Collection Action Review from Houston, Texas

This company is a ripoff. I contacted them about a bill that I owed.

I was transferred around the office, several times. Some people spoke English and some people attempted to. I was told they would call me back. When they called back I wasn't there.

so when they called back, they told my mother in law all my business and tried to make her say she was me. Basically calling her a liar. The supervisor got on the line.

Did the same thing and hung up. These people are jokes..smh

False collections on my credit report

I recently had my credit report run by a local bank. A collections from UNV Fidelity showed up for $62.00 supposedly from an old Columbia House account.

I contacted Columbia House and was told I owe them nothing. With all the people who have complained about this supposed company, why are they still around?? How many more people have to have their credit rating affect because of a company that seems to do nothing but try to make money illegally?? Seems to me the BBB should take action.

Maybe when UNV Fidelity messes with the wrong person they will finally be shut down. I guess time will tell.

Fraudulent late fee collection attempt

They have been harassing us for months. We have asked for and not received proof of fees owed after the closing od Hollywood Video in Grand Forks.

We refuse to pay for late fees that were not incurred by us. We have received form letters and calls at various times of the day. When asked for proof, they say they are working from records gotten from Hollywood Video in Grand Forks, ND. We did rent videos from Hollywood Video, but owed nothing.

Hollywood Video closed over two years ago, and at that time, we owed nothing. We had not rented from Hollywood for months before they closed.

Not responsable for DVD charges

On 2/15/13 I received a bill for two DVD charges that came from Universal Fidelity the letter stated that I owe for late charge from 4 yrs ago 2/9/2009. When I call the customer service at ext:1346 Luis was rude to me.

I asked him to provide me the receipt where I signed for the so called DVDs. I don't remember ever renting the movie's. I asked Luis to send me the signed receipt showing I rented the movie's in question.

He said he could not then he told me that Collection Agents would keep trying to process this collection. I do not owe them this money.I believe any body can write you a letter and say you owe them money.I need the proof if I going to pay this so call late charge, I don't believe that is ask for to much do to the fact the charges are from 4 yrs ago.

File a complaint against Universal Fidelity

Universal Fidelity has been sending out fraudulent bills to collect for "Legal Successor of Hollywood Video/Movie Gallery Inc." If you have received one, please file a complaint with the FTC here: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ to get them involved to stop the fraud. I don't know how many seniors have received the bill and paid without investigating.

PLEASE GET INVOLVED to stop the fraud!!!

I have received two different bills, for movies I never rented, with different amounts on both. They persist even though they receive the "Do not contact me pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Act" because they just change the amount, account number or names of the videos to weasel out of the order.

THEY ARE FRAUDS!!! PLEASE complain here: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

I recently checked mt credit report as I do regularly and as shocked and confused to see Universal Fidelity on my report. I have no idea who they are or what I allegedly did not pay for.

Guest

I recently received a "debt collection" notice from this company stating I rented two movies in 2009. First off, I already own a copy of the first movie and secondly, I have never heard of the second movie.

My husband and I have been making and buying our own movies since 2004, hence I would not be renting them. I did not even know a rental company still existed in this country.

What a huge scam!!!! I will be calling them tomorrow and the Attorney General on Monday!

Guest

This guys called me to say I owe $23 dollars from Columbia House from 8 years back? I have not done business with that company since late nineties and donot owe a penny.

The woman said I needed to pay because the statue of limitations is 8 years which is false in Texas (7 years)...also said that my supposed debt was not coming off of my credit report if I did not pay. I asked for records/evidence and she said to get my credit report and see for myself. She refused to give the evidence I requested. I pulled my credit report and no signs of the debt they are talking about.

I am filing a formal complaint for sure. SCAMMERS!!

After 2 years since my surgery, I have received notification of a balance owed in the amount of approx $2000 from Universal Fidelity LP

I am disputing these charges.

I have contacted Aetna and Brandywine Urology consultants (my doctor). Between the 2 sources, I do not believe I owe this balance.

This balance should have been written off, based on the pre-established non-billing arrangement with Aureon labs and my doctor's office, as well as with Aetna for what they did not cover.

These test were ordered by my doctor, contingent on the pre-established billing practice knowing they were out of network providers who would not bill patients for any residual balances the insurance carrier did not cover. Aureon Labs non-bill memos were sent to Universal Fidelity LP.

Their office deems this to be unfair billing. This appears to be happening to numerous other patients as well.

Guest

Just got a similar bill myself. Perhaps it's Hollywood Video at fault here, but I don't owe the money either.

Guest

I have received several calls from universal fidelity as well, also stating that I have an outstanding balance with Hollywood video. I told them that they had a mistake and was hung up on.

I called back to speak to a manager and was hung up on again. I called back a third time and was redirected to the opening message over and over.

They would not answer my call. Thank you for sharing your experiences, I will also be contacting the attorney general.

Guest

I also have been contacted by unverisal fidelity. I asked them to prove documentation that I rent these so called movies from hollywood.

they say they do not have too. I said with out documentation we are not legally obilgated to pay for these so called possibly made up fee's. The washington state attorney general say they have to prove you rented the movies and/or prove that we did not return them.

Fidelity has to give you some kind of documentation proving that this action really took place. :(

i too recieved a bill from ufi for movies fee from hollywood video i contacted the attorney general you should to

THIS COMPANY IS BOGUS!!!

This company is completely bogus and i dont think they have the right to be pulling money out of my account now that i have done my research!

I instructed them that it was okay to pull money out of my account each month on the 5th. Great they said. Why did they not pull it out until the 30th each month. Why some months did they not pull it out at all.

I got a settlement check and i had the intentions of paying these idiots off. Well..i paid them off and the very next day they took the money out of my account.

I called the company and requested a statement sent to me in the mail stating what the debt was for, exactly how much i owed and they said they couldnt send me one.

After speaking with this *** for a few moments i told him i cancelled all checks sent to the company and my lawyer was getting involved. I said lawyer and HE HUNG UP ON ME. I obviously called back to speak with him again. He hung up on me again.

Now this morning at 8:00 i recieved a phone call stating that i owe this money that is not even lajit and i informed them to quit calling me becuase i will call them on monday with my lawyer present and they hung up on me again.

This business has no ethics and no people skills!!!

Sent a letter disputing charges and citing FTC regs. I also asked for proof of charges and now after three weeks, I have heard nothing.

If they clear a bill, they are not legally obligated to tell you that. They can just not say anything.

Called me 5 X in one day.

This company rang my phone 5 times today. In direct violation of the FDCPA.

From what I understand they have been sued over 800 times. The BBB has them listed as a very bad company. I've talked to their legal dept. to no avail.

They pretty much say just sue us. They don't care that they are calling on bad paper, they just keep on harrasing you. The debt they are trying to collect from me was paid off 4 years ago. Direct to the company.

But that doesn't stop Universal Fidelity.

No they will call you right or wrong.

I meant that have NOT been accredited by the BBB. The BBB has received hundreds of complaints!

No, they are accredited by the BBB. You must work for Fidelity. Many Attorneys General have filed suits against them.

Took money without authorization

Universal fidelity took money out of my account without my authorization. I called them twice, they refused to credit the money back to my bank account.

The person I talked to yelled at me the whole time, and said that they take money out of accounts quite often without the consumers authorization. I asked him if they were going to put it back into my account, he said "probably not". I ended up calling my bank and they stopped the payment, and we are going to file a fraud claim against Universal Fidelity.

They will not win this one. Thanks

I was trying to get them to send me a bill when I realized that I owed them by having a credit report done. One person I talked to at Universal Fidelity told me they were sending me a bill so that I could pay off my account in full.

A week later when I still did not recieve a bill in I called again and spoke to someone else that said they were having "complications" sending any statements out and that they could take my payment over the phone by me giving them my bank or credit card information. I don't trust doing that especially after reading all the complaints on this company. They said they would close my account but it would still showed it was unpaid on my credit report. I have no idea what they are talking about.

I just refused to pay over the phone, want a bill sent directly to my home, and they won't do that so I guess they don't really want my payment or this company is very fraudgelent. I am confused.

Will say anything

Very hostile on the phone. I wound up hanging up which I should've done in the first place.

They told me that they would contact my employer and get their money that way. Last time I checked they weren't the government! I had a written document stating that 70% of the payment would be waived if I paid the remaining balance. They didn't believe me, so I dug up the letter and read it word for word they told me the letter was saying I had to pay 70%.

No, my math tells me that I am responsible for the remaining balance which is 30%. The nasty operator told me this was my last chance and not to call her. I told her that I didn't call her in the first place and hung up.

What a way to start my morning. The best advice is to let the phone ring!

They took my money when I informed them not to.

I arranged payments with them and then I couldn't afford the payments anymore well they dont care they went and took them any way very arrogant people working there and dont have any knowledge in the legal field. I advised them to return the money but they told me no so I had to advise my bank of the situation. I wonder if they ever paid any money towards my bill either. I checked the account and it is still the same amount that I owed when we began this process. I will never authoroize payments again. Next time I will send a check.

Universal fidelity took my money and didn't credit my account!

I paid $230 which cleared on my bank statement in october of 2006 -- today I get a call from another creditor (Resurgent Capital Services) saying I never made the payment and I owe them $230 now!!! How can you take money and then not credit the account? Furthermore the new creditor, Resurgent, says my bank statements are not proof I paid it, only Universal Fidelity with a signed paper can clear it -- however the number listed on my bank statement for Universal Fidelity is no longer in service!! FRAUD MUCH??????

So illegal and I'm pissed! Be careful what you pay! I'm contacting my banks and my broker who deals with our credit reports to see what I can do to rectify this *** situation.
