Cancel a Policy to add a different carrier
- - Excessive hold times and transfers between departments.
- - Unable to cancel a $319 payment due Jan 1.
- - Signed with another insurer; company won't cancel.
They offer the best (of three) limited choice vision care health plan of the three I was eligible for. It's priced very well.Canceling my old policy already enforced to replace with single vision policy was a pain in the butt.
On a technical level it was a simple process that only took the agent 5 minutes to resolve.
My frustrations stem from the difficulty of actually reaching someone. It honestly feels like a scam.
Excessive hold times, transferred to a different department. Still on hold.
Unable to cancel a $319 payment due to come out on Jan 1. I already signed up for a different insurance carrier, and this company refuses to let me cancel.
- Good in house vision plan
- Golden rule totally unresponsive
Preferred solution: PLEASE. Just cancel my $319 payment before it comes out on the Jan. 1st.
User's recommendation: DONT EVER sign up for Golden Rule insurance. Find a company more responsive that doesn't pass you around like a phat blunt. NOW over an hour on hold trying to get this policy cancelled.

Verified ReviewerDon't pay; catastrophically bad customer service
- - EOB didn't match the supplemental dental plan's coverage.
- - Customer service had long waits, with transfers between UnitedHealthcare and Golden Rule.
After repeated attempts and wasting several hours on the phone trying (unsuccessfully) to get through multiple layers of customer service to reach a Golden Rule dental claims person, we finally gave up and cancelled our Golden Rule dental policy. Total waste of time and money.
Next, reaching a customer service rep to explain the EOB was a huge waste of time. All phone numbers started with United Healthcare and useless automated assistant. Finally got a live rep who told us that our United plan didnt cover those services (which is why we bought the additional Golden Rule plan). Then got transferred to Golden Rule, but rep explained that they did medical not dental.
Then transferred to Golden Rule Dental, but got a billing person, not a claims person. Transferred again, but ended up with a rep for Medicaid services.
Best that she could do was look up other phone numbers for Golden Rule using Google, all of which just started the process again with United Healthcare. One of the worst customer service experiences ever, and by todays standards thats really saying something.

Invoices for previous care
- - I called the Golden Rule number by mistake, thinking it was their consumer line.
- - The agent did not disclose identity and seemed to be an imposter.
I innocently called the number for Golden Rule and had no idea I called this consumer line. I gave you my personal information thinking you were one of their agents.
She never disclosed who she was, she was an imposter. It was wrong for the person I spoke with not to reveal their true identity.
I dont know anything about consumers being pissed off and that was not the reason for my call. However, whatever grievance you have with against their company should come back on you.
