UNC Charlotte
Monopoly...Making money off students and their parents!
I believe that on and off campus police departments at unc charlotte and maybe other nc colleges take advantage of students and their parents with the amount of tickets(parking/speeding) and fines they distribute. They pass them out like its candy...Beware!
They mainly target teenagers and college students. They know that most of these kids are away from home and their families, so they take advantage and intimidate, and at times harass and humiliate them. Unfortunately, its probably a handful of bad officers who resort to these kinds of tactics and give the good officers a bad rap.
Its a money making business for them(police dept, attorney's fee, etc.) and they should be ashamed of themselves! They should put more time and effort on going after the real criminals!!!
Nothing for students to do on campus & off....BORING!!!
Maybe UNC Charlotte should invest in offering special events on campus for students particularly on weekends(concerts, comedy shows, movies, dances, etc.). You know, something for the students to do so that they are not BORED!!!
and stay out of trouble! Surely the students and their parents pay more than enough to UNC Charlotte that they would be able to offer these events to their students once in a while...if they cared enough!!!
It was bad enough that students had to wait for so long for the new dining hall to be opened before they were able to get some descent food(Crown food was HORRIBLE!!!). Come on UNC Charlotte!...REALLY???
Stay Out Of Student Loan Debt
If you can do the best you can to stay out of student loan debt. Graduated UNC Charlotte 10 years ago and still paying off student loans. What a racket. :-(
It is worth noting that there is a difference between private and federal loans. When federal loans have mounted up, then a federal student loan consolidation program is needed. Private consolidation programs are open to anyone who wants to restructure their debt, but federal programs are more exclusive.
There are some very sound reasons for this. For a start, federal loans already provide considerable benefits to the borrower, with low interest rates and flexible repayment schedules. Federal consolidation programs include Direct Loans and FFEL Loans. The core difference between the two is that the US Department of Education issues Direct Loans to applicants. FFEL Loans are issued by private (commercial) lenders but are subsidized by federal government. http://nationalparalegalcollege.org
UNC system over charging
I have lived legally in North Carolina on a TD status since I was 4 years old. UNCC is charging me out of state tuition even though I can prove I have had a North Carolina address since 1997, I have had a North Carolina drivers license since I was 16, my parents have paid North Carolina state taxes since 1997, I have gone to public schools in North Carolina from Kindergarten to grade 12.
If this doesn't qualify me for in state tuition, which state do I qualify for? Additionally, my older sister went to UNCC and she was charged in state tuition. My mother got her Bachelor of Arts degree from UNCC and Master of Arts degree from Appalachian State University and she was charged in state both times.
The law has not changed - UNC administrators have twisted the law to rip off students. If you are in similar circumstances, go out of state - the price is the same.
