- - A different doctor removed knee fluid and misdiagnosed gout.
- - UAB ER found MRSA and knee sepsis and called next morning.
- - UAB Gardendale saved me.
I had a bad attitude because of not understanding the length of time I was there. They saved my life after a Dr from another facility had removed fluid from my knee.
I will not go into mistakes made by this Dr, other than he, after 2 visits told me it was gout, wrong!!
This UAB er found the mrsa caused by this dr and also called me the next morning due to the sepsis in my knee he ignored. I would have died but for UAB Gardendale.
User's recommendation: Definitely give this place a chance.
These ppl just don't care about the Patience
- - Daughter was very sick with nausea, likely a stomach virus.
- - No treatment was given; I gave Zofran and she slept and felt better.
Daughter came there was very sick to her stomach, Feeling very nauseous, she got it from her young kids that it's stomach virus that Evan go on around the school. Daytona, she just had to go home and let it run its course ,didn't give ger anything for the sickness ,I gave her some of my Zofran and she got some sleep and felt alot better !
I mean they could have give her something like I did but Nooooo, you know why cause they don't care ,I hope everyone that was around her starts feeling the way she felt so maybe they will give someone something instead of saying just let it run its course !!
Bunch of stuck up people !! Rude ,un caring!!
User's recommendation: Go somewhere else these people do not care about you they just want a pay check !!
Slowwww
Too many hours at the ER. The ones working stand around talking to each other. The doctor never shows up.
- Poor service
Preferred solution: Apology
Non caring nurses and doctors that do not do their jobs
- - Emergency visit for back and chest pain; doctor sent him home with no meds.
- - Nurse Cindy was rude on the call and offered no help.
My son went to uab Gardendale emergency this morning at 6am for pain in lower back and chest and a doctor Beckedors came in and squeezed his arm and legs then sent him home with no meds and still hurting. So I called and talked with cindy the in charge nurse only to find her to be very sarcastic and rude on the phone and not offering any help.
This place should be closed or they need a total redo of staff and doctors. These people are not in the health system to help you so dont waste your time going there . As a resident of Gardendale most of my life we were all told we were getting a facility that was to be helpful to residents and this place is anything but that. Total waste of time and money.
You would think with a rating of 3 they would get the message but after speaking with the in charge nurse I realized they just dont CARE!!!! Mayor Hogeland you should check out this place especially after all the promises the residents of the city of Gardendale were told this place needs to go!!!!!
User's recommendation: Do not go to UABGardendale emergency room

The ER staff probably get disgusted with people on medical assistance showing up in the ER for minor ailments taking up space and time. But hey, it’s free, right?
The rest of us with regular health insurance pay $50, $100 or more for a copay to the ER and only go for EMERGENCIES.
She can buy one of the many items on the shelf for her nausea. No free prescription for her.
