Do not let Tyson Properties rent your house as it will be damaged!
Beware of Tyson Properties in Albuquerque, New Mexico I had Tyson Properties manage a property for me in Albuquerque, NM in mid 2008. In early 2012 We had intentions to move into the property as soon as we moved. What a disaster!! The house was horribly abused by the tenants, i.e. nicks and gouges in the walls, broken molding, loose faucets, loose toilets, broken custom blinds, scratched and abused appliances, oil on the driveway. The list goes on and on. They said the house was inspected when the tenants vacated the property. That is not true since we had to replace about eight light bulbs. Tyson Properties "nickels and dimes" you to death. The owners have an option of them inspecting the property mid lease. If they note any problems the landlord has an option of fixing them. We always responded to any problems or issues the tenant may have. I believe all of the damage was done when the tenants knew their lease was not to be renewed and we were moving in. When we moved to NM from NC we bought another house to live in until the tenants' lease had expired. We did this since Tyson would not rent to us even though we were a client of theirs. They said they would not rent to us if we did not see the property. We bought the other house on the internet and did not see it till we moved in. Prior to moving into the property I asked for a walk-through since my wife had never seen the house. That was a nightmare! We were treated as if we were an intrusion and a bother. The tenant followed us from room to room as if he was hiding something. The house was a total mess. I asked to come to look at the condition of the house at the expiration of their lease and was denied. We have other properties around the country and are extremely pleased. I trust them but I should have done my "homework" more thoroughly looking for a New Mexico property manager. They only had the property for 3 1/2 years. The items that were broken are being fixed as I find them. The majority of the house has been repainted and the walls repaired. Please - do yourself a favor and don't do business with them, especially if you are an owner. A house is a big investment and should be treated as such. Tyson Properties held a damage deposit but I did not receive any money for damages. I thought a damage deposit was held for any damage done to the property.
