Charged twice

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have been diligent about paying my bill early/on time, but when i submitted a request for a one time extension that was granted, i find that they are stating i cancelled a payment not once but twice and charging me twice for cancelation fees and late payment. I called and the rep gave me the amount to pay broken down with ladjustment fee included. Now i am being chrged again for another adjustment fee after the account was brought to zero. They refuse to listen to the recording and honor a credit.

I have to pay for their mistake

I had scheduled a payment online for the 27th of the month, when I get paid. But TEP put the payment through on 26th (even though I got an email confirmation saying it would go through on the 27th) so I got a $25 overdraft charge from my bank. When I called them they said it was the bank's fault, of course. And when I called the bank they said it was TEPs fault. Since neither would take responsibility I'm the one who gets screwed. No customer service.

TEP rates aren't accurate

My name is Richard Commander and I've been renting a house for a year.TEP charged me a high deposit of over a hundred dollars as a first time customer. I've never had service with them before. When I asked TEP why such a high amount the claimed. It was do to the residence I reside at. Fast forward to one year later when it's time to credit my deposit back. My monthly bill for the past bill was higher. Regardless of conserving more energy by using one less appliance. When I stated my case with previous bills from the year before and same time frame. I was just blown off you a referred to an online energy monitoring web site. My energy usage has decreased since last year!. I felt like my complaints fell on def ear's.

ALLEGED CONSUMER THEFT ... ?

I have lived in a 500 square foot studio condo for about 15 years. Without refreshing my memory to be exact, my bills had been consistently about the same each month from year to year up until about June of 2016 then my monthly bill jumped from about $80 to about $134! I sent online complaints to TEP ; response, if any was very vague. I honestly thought someone was fraudulently stealing electric from me so recently on or before June of 2017, the breaker was turned off to the ac; no juice at all to the ac! Guess what? I just received my new bill and honestly it is higher now than it was when I was using more electric! I have filed a dispute and will follow-up, if necessary, with legal recourse. Go figure! BASICALLY RETIRED REAL ESTATE BROKER.

I moved from a home in vail due to the area having issues with break-ins, gas syphoning, and other theft problems. The last day we were moving, we went back for the last of our things only to find the neighbor 2 houses down robbed us. I was able to get some of my belongings back bc 1 of the other neighbors had security cameras installed. Needless to say a couple months after I moved I got an outragous bill. I call to find out why only to discover after I left the rental property the landlord didnt secure it and someone stole the meter box and damaged the lines. I am being charged for it. The neighbors were witnesses to both invasions and saw them leaving with things both times (the 2nd they believe was the meterbox). Tep says providing them with statements from those witness' is is hearsay. "I was last living there so I must have stolen their meter when I moved". What use would I have for a tep meter??? I was charged well over $1000 and its now in collections ruining my credit. I have no choice but to take them to court where the neighbors statments would be admissable before a judge. I was told either the landlord has to pay or I have too. She refused. I secured the doors the meter was in the yard which was not fenced. How is that my problem? I moved for the very reason this happened. Its not bad enough I lost thousands of dollars in tools, electronics, and housewares but now they feel I owe them? Tep is crooked.

TEP refuses to turn on power to apt when i paid past bill not in my name.

TEP refused to turn on power in apt until past bill of 521.00 was paid that was not in my name. I paid the bill because I have 2 small children and they are still refusing to turn on power to apt. They are shady criminals. If there was another power company i would go to them. I am living in a hotel with my two small children because they refuse to turn on my electric. Now i call back today, and they tell me i need to put a 200.00 deposit up front before they will turn on power. I asked if they will split deposit and they tell me no but i was told they split deposit up threw several bills.. Im paying rent on apt that i signed a least to and cant live. I feel discrimated against and have contacted a lawyer

Utility Mafia

I have had bills out the roof even after renovations, I went crazy spending money to lower my bill, as I started to lower my bill with small changes they came out and said that something is wrong with my meter so they changed it. The I proceeded to change the higher priced stuff like pool pump attic insulation even changed all my bulbs to Led.

They came out again said they needed to change the meter again. I didn't get a bill so they decided to bill me from what my bill was year ago.

I have a house built in 74 block home changed out my a/c to a more efficient one, even closed my home in with 1inch foam and stucco. I think I'm being robbed should I contact an attorney these guys are robbing people.

Tucson Electric Power Billing Department Review from Tucson, Arizona

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Had a previous bill with them because of recent financial hardship. Tried to work out an affordable payment arrangement with them.

Was told i would still have to pay over $100 a month extra in addition to whatever my monthly bill was to keep electric on. Could not afford this so was sending them only $50 extra. They strung me along and waited for the hottest part of summer before they shut my service off. It is now 158 degrees in my little windowless apartment.

What little food i did have is now rotten and had to be thrown away.

I would have been able to pay all of what i owe them 2 days from now on friday when i finally am getting a decent check but was told to go get bent. I cincerely hope everyone of their employees steps off a curb and get smoked by a public transportation buss.

Bill was twice the amount it should have been

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My average bill for the past 14 years at this address is about $35 in the winter and $65 in the summer, when the swamp cooler is on 24/7. In January my bill was $40.29--higher than it should have been, but I paid it anyway. Last week I received a bill for the dates 12/24/14-1/27/15 totaling $70.67. Even if I hadn't been OUT OF TOWN FROM 12/8/14-1/7/15, this would be twice the normal amount. I sent an e-mail and received a response telling me to go out and read my meter, or TEP could send someone out to do it...for $20! So I read the meter, got a number, studied the bills, and it all means diddly to me. This is the bill history:

10/24/14-11/21/14 $36.67

11/22/14-12/26/14 $40.29 (apt. unoccupied for 17 of those days)

12/27/15-1/27-15 $70.67 (apt. unoccupied for 19 of those days)

I just called TEP and after being on hold for about ten minutes I was disconnected.

Preferred solution: TEP should investigate why my bill doubled, provide an answer, and reduce the charges accordingly.

Resolved: Turned off power when we had a credit balance

We opted for pay online for our business and home gas and electric years ago. With absolutely no notification, TEP stopped sending up email notifications AND paper notifications when our bills we available. When we are out of town, there is no possible way of knowing what our bills due are unless we receive emails. Concerned, I went to sign into our account. Our account was locked for no apparent reason and with absolutely no notice. When were were FINALLY able to get a response, they had turned off our electricity in 110 degree heat killing all our plants, defrosting our freezer and fridge (we had to dump everything) and nearly killing our pets. On top of that, they CHARGED us $60+ to turn it back on. Our business account (same username) had a $400+ credit this entire time. After all they put us through, they refused to credit the $60. They could also never explain why they locked our account from access to pay our bills.

Same thing here how many people are mad about tep ? We the public need help on this why

Inessa Ibx

After receiving our complaint, TEP 'discovered' we had a $800+ credit to our account. Still awaiting an apology. Will probably never get it They refunded the "reconnect fee".

John N Mzy

Nonsense! You can easily access your account to see what and when you owe. Your billing period and date is usually consistent and instead of waiting for an email notification you simply check your account around the time the new bill hits the system and then pay it.

Fraudulent collection practices

TEP is being allowed to use fraudulent collection practices that are forbidden under FTC regulations. Attorneys who file FTC cases against collection agencies nationwide cannot touch TEP & other utilities because our Arizona Corporation Commission is allowing TEP & any other utility to usze FTC loopholes. Unless TEP uses an outside agency, THEY CAN VIOLATE EVERY RIGHT THAT YOU HAVE! They do not have to even abide by the "DONOTCALL" rules. If your father moves and does not pay his closing bill, TEP can locate, you a TEP customer and without communicating with you, they will just add your father's bill to your next bill. Then they will tell you its 90 days past due & if you don't pay it you will be TERMINATED IMMEDIATELY, WHETHER YOUR BILL IS OR HAS BEEN CURRENT. Then it is reported on your credit, if you fight then, win or loose, you will be hit with a new deposit as retalliation for not just paying up for your relative. This is not allowed by the FTC for any collection agency, but for an Utility Company in Az, BEWARE, 1000's of Arizonians everyday are being vicitimized by TEP, AEP & SSVECO!
