Buyer beware
I got conned into working for these guys for a summer. It was always my dream to become an Alaskan big game guide.
I was young and naive and was told if I worked for free and proved myself they would help me get my guide license. Well, long story short I held up my end of the deal and after 4 months working at the Tal star lodge with Triple C Outfitters( Clifford Smith, Brandan Strachen, Mark Cooley and gang) I started to realize I was going to get stiffed.. and I did. By the time I had everything I needed to get my license these guys had so many legal problems not a single one of them were qualified to sign off for me.
Pathetic. At least I wasnt paying to be there. I felt so bad for the clients that got sold on that place. Some of the nicest people Ive ever met were the clients coming in.
Telling me how theyve saved up for 10-20 years for this experience. I felt horrible that this was the outfit that they chose. Its filthy, garbage and trash everywhere. Not to mention there were hardly any animals to hunt.
They sell hunts for critters that simply are not there. One of Cliffs famous lines that he told me that Ill never forget, I hunt for 8 hours a day, my hunter gets to choose whether they want to hunt in the morning or the evening. I aint doin both.
What a joke!! Dont ever do business with these *** They are criminals and only want to steal your money.
User's recommendation: Buyer beware
bottom of the barrel outfitters
I have seen these guys operating for quite a few years now, CCC, and TalStar Lodge. It has always astonished me to see these guys still in business!!!
These guys are the laughing stock of the river system they operate on. They completely trash their lodge grounds and the state land surrounding it. They have no respect for the land and or the animals in it. They break the law at every turn.
Their safety equipment is well very lacking!! From the rumors I have heard Cliff Smith and Mark Cooley got in some trouble with the wildlife troopers and Cliff has bailed out leaving Mark and Brandon now the new owners. OMG Look at Alaska dispatch and you can see the rumor has a lot of merit. Found a lot of new charges pending for both Mark and Cliff!
Hunters do your do diligence before booking with any or all of these guys!!
Mark Cooley Clifford Smith Brandon Strachey Not only call there references call local businesses in the area and get the real truth before you spend that kind of money and get screwed over. These guys are the kind that give Alaska outfitters a bad name!!!!!
Triple C Outfitters, Alaska Fishing
This place markets themselves as a discount fly-in Alaska fishing destination and you get what you pay for. No service here.
Buyer beware. They offer great rates, but fail to compare with other more established operations. The cabins are modest and the overall service lacks the world class title you expect when visiting Alaska. The best way to a 'budget' fishing vacation in Alaska is to actually do it yourself.
There are may flight services that can fly you in to places for a much more affordable price. But, if you want full service and good service, book with an established lodge that can offer you more.
I just would rather not spend the money for lacking accommodations. It's all or nothing if you want a trully unforgettable experience in Alaska.

Triple C was stolen from his Father and Step Mother, he promised to pay and didn't but kept using the equipment and the name and made a mockery of the whole thing. This was a bad business, looks like he should have it taken away from him, but he will weasel his way out of this too.
Doesn't pay bills and for fuel and equipment, then leaves town. A real piece of garbage.
Used all the equipment and cabins and never paid a cent. The only thing he can show you is how to get drunk and lie about everything.
if I wanted a 5 star hotel accomidations I would have booked them. this place is awesome.
great service and really good guides and a warm bed at night. Alaska is not for sissys that need all the comforts of mommys house
The 2 people who complained on here are so full of *** as is this website based on and focusing only on bad situations but cliff and triple c are top of the line with service, and fishing and hunting. We have been with cliff on 3 different occasions all very professional and clean and the food was grate.
Some One Got out of bed on the wrong side. Tripple C is a great choice.
As an Alaskan Cliff is the ONLY GUIDE, I will book for my Husbands trip. Safety is top for me while I'm in the woods on a hunt and he knows his stuff, knowledge in fishing and hunting our wilderness is key to success and memorable moments.
Anyway mooskeetoes love complainers, so he may want to stay away from "THE LAST FRONTIER"!!!
we love TRIPLE C OUTFITTERS, LET THEM GET YOUR GAME ON!!!!

Service was terrible. Bathrooms consisted of disjustin outhouses that stunk beyond belief.
Food was awful. On the hunt the food consisted of cold spam sandwiches and army rations. Tents had duct taped together. Definately the armpit of Alaska.
Very unprofessional and unorganized. Definately better off doing the fish trip on your own.
Don't believe me... I have pictures.
I hope you do not have what happened to me. Triple C.
Was a complete disappoint. They over promised and did not deliver.
Waste of money and time. I will never go back and hope others will do there homework before booking with them!
Im writing to say that Triple C Outfitters is above all others when it comes to their clients. I went on a Brown Bear hunt and fishing trip with my Gal and son.
They were very profesional, helpful and most inportant giveing. 2 times i had to say to Cliff not to give us something that he thought we need'ed. the staff was dead on.
they did all they said they would and more. so please don't waste your time with this guys BS...
I don;t know who this guys is but i had my family their and we had a wonderful time...great service, great fishing, great lodging.. this guys our gal sounds like a un happy person because Triple C is a very fine place
you cant make everyone happy...if you need refrences balive me i have more good ones than bad and would happly give them out to any that would ask...as far as this fellow...have no idea who it is and should call me on this matter to see what the real problem is...no one has ever not come to me with a complaint that i did not fix on the spot
