Worst Customer Service

Everyone in the office is super rude and they treat us as we did something wrong by buying house from them

Especially their warranty team dont know how to speak to customers

Worst ever decision of choosing them to buy house

Will never recommend TRICO builders to any of my friends and family

They dont listen to your problems and tend to postpone the stuff and keep on finding excuses to not fix the problems

It was the worst day when I decided to chose them

They should learn to treat their customers well

I wish there was Zero or negative rating that I could give

Trico Homes - Home in Nolan Hill NW Calgary

Built the Hudson in Nolan Hill. My experience from start to finish was fantastic.

My second time building but first with Trico. House was started and finished on time. Quality of work is excellent.

No deficiencies on possession. Warranty follow up was great as well.

Money Eaters

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Please be very careful Trico homes people are very nice when they are doing business but as soon they know they are not going to do any more business they show their actual face. They will eat your money if your deal didnt go through due to finance reason.

They will make you cry so badly for your money and will be careless about your money such a greedy people.

2 months ago I signed one house from Trico Homes in Livingston Nw and gave initial deposit of $1000 but due to finance didnt got approve the deal didnt go through. I called many times no answer. I decided to visited their office but ended up getting harrassed by the Area sale Manager "Henry Luong" who keep refusing to give my $1000 back. Its strange that my mortgage officer also gave Henry written statements about mortgage didnt go through still this Area sale Manager "Henry Luong" is careless and didnt retuned my money.

I'm very frustrated and really not sure why Henry gave so much hard time. If my mortgage didn't got approve and the deal didnt happend what's my fault?

The house that I was going to be buy had been sold over a month ago but my money is still with them. I would or my family or friend will never ever give any business to Trico Homes due to this much insulted their Area Manager Henry.

I hope you guys take wise decision on purchasing any property with them because if you happend to go head with their buying procedures and things doesn't work then they will give you same disrespectful treatment they gave me.

Absolute garbage

I moved into my town house in 2007 we never got the colour of counters we asked for. First issue I had was one of my door locks failed to work.

Trico sent a guy too fix it he told me the first guy put the pins in upside which broke the tumbler then he fixed all the pins in the all the doors left. Then 2 months later it failed again they sent out another guy he told me that none of the door locks I had were fire rated. If a fire happened it would melt the plastic components in the door and we could not get out so that guy felt sorry for me and replaced all the locks for us. Then about 6 months living in our house there was a sewage back up in our basement.

So I called the 24 hr plumbing service no answer finally Trico got them to call us back they eventually fixed that problem. Me and my 6 Nieghbor’s share one trunk line to sewer minimum standard for building. My Nieghbor had a finished basement but had not moved in yet for whatever reason. I went into there basement with general for the site at the time, I made a comment like you guys will have to rip this all out and replace there carpets he said unfortunately we will just steam clean the carpets I laughed and said no surprise.I had to replace all the flooring in my house within a year it was all really cheap with poor installation I still have cut left in my bathroom.

Trico attempted twice to fix our kitchen but both installers made a mess of the cut after the year warranty was up they wouldn’t do nothing for us any more All my cupboards are really cheap the piece in the middle of the frame is about an 1/8 of an inch thick. Our furnace and duct was not cleaned lots of debris and dust left behind so asked Trico and they sent one of there general labourers in with a shop vac to push down vents and cleaned I had to call a proper cleaner to come out and do a proper job on my own dime.

My advice to anyone out there purchasing a house new I would not buy a Trico home.

HOA rep trying to resolve issues

Finally got in touch with customer service, who gave me a different e mail to use. Was informed other e mail was now inactive (but it still receives e mails and does not indicate it is inactive) and now they want to play games about apparent violations, sent with pictures of violation.

VERY VERY AGORANT PEOPLE.

Not easy to talk too, have a superior attitude.

The person who said he had no knowledge of the violations, has e mailed me two months ago requesting a picture, which the email shows he opened.......

Not many avenues left to proceed on, so I guess filing a lien on the property and proceed from there. It seems they do not care about who they rent too

Worst builder to deal with in Redstone community and specially their houses on Red Sky Way and Red Stone Boulevard

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Worst builder to deal with in Redstone community and specially their houses on Red Sky Way and Red Stone Boulevard. Cheap contractor and materials used, like door knobs(freezes in winter- you can not even function them), insufficient insulation(builder cost cutting cheap techniques) , water pipe noises in whole house from washroom’s and sinks, when half washroom exhaust fan turned on you feel noise and vibration on master bedroom.

Even partywall between neighbors- you can hear each other’s noise clearly. Misleading practices initially and once you get possession you will realize many problems with home, like vibration on main flooring from below HRV and Furnace, they have identified problem but will not resolve it for some reason and will give you long explanations. You get days off from work for each apartments for contractors to identify issues and same thing happens again and again, all you will hear from servicing team is – Its common with homes and it is as per Alberta’s code. **Worst thing is they even do not have document signed by owners of exterior colors and will paint any color you want after possession of spec homes and will tell you it was discussed**.

To buy new built or spec homes from Trico is wasting your money, time and whole year’s vacation time from work after their contractors for appointments and going over all problems of home and coming up with no solution at the end. Worst woks done by wm Schmidt for plumbing and heating(contracted by Trico).

At the end they will send you email asking you to contact Alberta’s New home warranty for further assistance. HARD STOP for REDSTONE TRICO HOME’s.

Worst experience in customer service and warranty

Trico built my house back in 2008 and they left a pile of construction materials inside the furnace! Pvc pipes, drywall, casing,...

all stuff that was too heavy to pull out during the cleaning of the ducts. Although they were more than happy to place a sticker on there stating that they cleaned the furnace and ducts. Recently our furnace broke down and this was due to a furnace used by Trico which was defective from the beginning. I assume the units were cheaper at the time which meant more money for Trico.

They used a Carrier furnace which is listed in a class action lawsuit in Canada and the US! I contacted Trico about this issue but they try to put it on me! Our plumber said that the construction garbage were leftovers from the time they built the house. He also stated that unfortunately, he sees that a lot.

The result is that your furnace malfunctions and that there's a potential fire hazard. So if Trico built your house please have your furnace checked. My furnace wasn't even 10 years old and I had to replace it because of the garbage inside, improper installation, and defective parts. $4,300 later we have a new furnace but NOT thanks to Trico.

It is sad that such a major home builder is absolutely not concerned about the home they built for you and that they don't take any responsibility for things they've done wrong.

Trico is not open for discussion at all and in this case and they contacted their lawyer.

Trico's lawyer sent me a letter to cease and desist in regards to posting negative reviews/comments about Trico online. Their lawyer mentioned that their client could potentially lose income because of my comments/reviews. Really?!

Their lawyer should read all the negative reviews online before sending me a stupid letter like that which cost Trico probably $300. Again a multi-million dollar company trying to silence the regular Joe Blow.

Trico Homes - Horrible Experience

While Trico has a great advertising department, sales staff, design studio staff, they do not back that up with their quality of trades, and customer service with fixing warranty work.

6 months after our build we are dealing with possession day issues. I'm sure their new showhomes (that make them money) don't have the same issues.

When we had our walk through a week before possession we noted quite a few items, mostly cosmetic. We were assured of the quality of their service department and that these items would be addressed.

A week later on our possession day, we walk in to find nothing had been addressed. It almost seemed like no one had been in our house since our walk through. They didn't even schedule cleaners to come. I remember thinking - Ok, not a great start, but stuff happens right? They'll fix things...

Since then, I have taken 15 vacation days off of work to be home to address concerns. Yes I am aware that with building a home there will be issues and challenges, but Trico is unreal. I have counted over 5 days where trades were scheduled that didn't show up, or someone forgot the material. The other days are because with some issues we have to discuss it over and over again with different people, at each appointment, with nothing being done. I have to be more on top of what is wrong with our house than they are as they forget the items on the list.

I agree with the other negative review about Trico - they are simply too busy to handle the volume of customer service requests after the builds are finished. Once they have our money, they claim that they 'care', but they really don't. They have great staff, and I made sure to credit the individuals who are great, but they don't have enough of them for the amount of work required.

They send you these surveys to fill out, which I did spend a lot of time making sure I commended them on the great things about the company, which there are quite a few, and provided examples as to why we were not happy with other parts. We even pressed the 'yes' button to request someone from Trico to contact us to discuss these concerns. Have we heard from anyone? No. But when talking to their warranty department, and the sales staff at the show home, they have all seemed to have read our surveys. Interesting. I see someone from Trico responded to someone on here, I'm wondering if this will get their attention.

So I am sitting here on another day off where trades couldn't come (blizzard today, understandable cancellation) but still feeling frustrated as we wouldn't have needed this trades day if the items were fixed back 6 months ago.

Very disappointed where we are with Trico after a very promising start.

P.S. - we are fortunate that these are just cosmetic issues. I don't even want to know what their service is like with issues worse than ours.

Deceitful employees

Looked at a home and was pressured to put an offer in. Promised it was risk free.

Meaning you have to write a cheque to make an offer $1000. We were promised the cheque only gets cashed if the deal goes through. I was so scared and she continued to reassure me. So we did it.

The offer fell through AND they cashed my cheque! The very one I was told wont be cashed - risk free. Very bad business. I still don't have my money back.

Now they are saying this is not their policy and the sales lady lied. That's not my problem it's the company's problem.

Never buying a home through them. Buyers BEWARE!!

We built with Trico (bad experience) so you made the right decision. However that cheque should not have been cashed - make sure you fight that. That's what we had to do as well, and we had friends that did not go through with buying and their cheque wasn't cashed.

Trico homes has the worst customer service

I went to the aspen Trico show homes. The sales manager is so rude and unorganized.

She kept telling us she didn't know how much lots were, how much upgrades were. She was condescending and rude. I also dealt with head office and the design centre and they were just as bad. We decided not to build because of the bad reviews and we had firsthand experience that validated these reviews.

I hope they smarten up and learn to treat customers who have hard earned money to spend. Do your research before purchasing a Trico home and hopefully they will get rid of all the rude sales people.
