Travelex Insurance Services - Travelex Travel Insurance Review from Hudson, Massachusetts

We also booked our trip insurance through Travelex because the cruise company made trip insurance mandatory... Unfortunately we were only insured for the cruise part of the trip, and when that got cancelled due to the ship hitting an iceberg and needing repair aiur cruise never got started and all our expenses were outside of the insured timeframe.... Our mistake for not asking more questions before booking insurance. The cruise company without hesitation rebooked our trip and we had to yet AGAIN take out trip insurance... This time we did it from the moment we leave our house till the day we get back. My thinking is that the trip i insured never happened (through absolutely no fault of iur own) so nothing was really insured.. So if the cruise company gives us anither trip for thousands of dollars because they took our money and we got nothing for it ... Shouldn't the insurance then at least carry over to this new date also? Because again no trip actually took place so there was nothing that was insured... I feel we should get our insurance premium back, having already paid AGAIN for the second cruise date

We took out a 20k travel insurance policy, which carried 150% trip interruption plan; Cost: $1,000. We were to take an expedition to Antarctica, so we booked the insurance from door-2-door to be safe. We flew to Buenos Aires on day 1, on Day 2 the trip was cancelled due to ice berg damage to our ship. TravelEx sent us a check for the CHANGE FEE ONLY (which was $600) and didn't reimburse the plane ticket that got us there. Who pays 3k for airfare to BA for a weekend?!? AND, why wouldn't they cover at least HALF that expense as immediate travel back home? Can you spell FRAUD!?! I don't understand how they are allowed to make these reparations without discussing anything with us. They allowed no interaction while making their decision and leave us with no alternative other than to complain here. Our trip coverage was at 150%, yet we received piddly based on our costs. AT MOST they could be paying for 150% of the full cost for our first cancelled trip, and then we'd pay the cost of the rebooked trip out of that money!!! I've tried to explain to them about flights back and they don't care...is this the way its really supposed to work??? 200 people lost a lot of money with this incident, and all had to have at least the bare minimum of Travelex's insurance. It feels like, to me, THEY made a lot of money with this incident :(

Loss:
$4000
Reason of review:
Problems with payment

Preferred solution: I want the costs of my flight to BA - no one spends over 4k just to fly to a foreign country and stay there for 1 day! This insurance plan was door-2-door, and their were 200 folks on this trip that also had similar claims...looks like TravelEx made out!

I know you said to submit this information to the email above, but I wanted to let you know I've attempted to speak with them twice now, and I get the same answer. I bought TRIP insurance from DOOR to DOOR and all they will cover is airfare CHANGE fees.

I'll send it again to see if this does something different...but I can't imagine this being ok with ANY consumer.

TRAVELEX TRIP INSURANCE IS A RIPOFF!

I have a complaint with CheapOAir and Travelex about a cancelled trip from Detroit to Atlanta. I purchased a ticket through CheapOair along with the trip insurance in case of an unforeseeable event. My mom has Alzheimer's and I'm responsible for her care. I arranged for our caregiver to see after my mom while I was visiting Detroit. My caregiver had a family emergency and could not watch my mom, so my trip was immediately cancelled. I submitted a claim to Travelex for my losses, but they refuse to pay, citing my mom's condition was a pre-existing condition. My caregivers family emergency was definitely an unforeseeable event. The advertisement by CheapOair and Travelex is very misleading. PLEASE DO NOT PUCHASE ANY TICKETS FROM CHEAPOAIR AND TRAVELEX, because you will not be covered for anything.

Cancelled trip due to mom's illness

I purchased a ticket through CheapOair and Travelex for a trip from Detroit. The trip was cancelled due to a family emergency by our caregiver who sees after my mom while I'm away. Traveled would not cover because they say my mom's condition is pre-existing. My problem is with Travelex's advertisement, which is very misleading. My caregivers family emergency was an unforeseeable event which led to the cancellation of my trip, but Travelex stated my mom's conditions existed before I took the trip. DO NOT PURCHASE TICKETS FROM CHEAPOAIR AND TRAVELEX! I will definitely spread the word to unsuspecting customers to not purchase any tickets from CHEAPOAIR and TRAVELEX in the future.

Cheapoair/travelex insurance/ RUN AWAY!

My daughter was in icu and we did not know how that was going to turn out. I called cheapoair and explained she was in icu and depending how things went, my son might have to stay longer.( It ended up that we had to cancel the trip due to her going back into icu. ) They were oh so nice when I was purchasing it and then when she needed to go back into icu and i tried to collect the insurance, they gave me the run around as did Travelex. Do not walk, run away; they lie !!!!!!!!!!! Go directly to the airlines!!!!!! I never got a penny back, after spending hundreds of dollars.

The claim was not honored because the paper work the customer filed had nothing to do with medical reasons for cancellation. It was regarding another traveler, and an incident that occurred but is not covered by insurance.
