Verified ReviewerScam travel flight insurance for security bundle product
United Airlines arranged for flights to Israel for my family. They transferred me to their travel insurance department, Travel Guard.
After several conversations with Travel Guard, they recommended their additional Security Bundle insurance because we were flying into Israel; which they said would cover any strife in the area. Within hours after arriving, war broke out, and later we were denied coverage! It has been a long tedious process months later to continue to fight against their denial of all insurance - saying now that they don't cover threats of war!
However, I followed all their protocol and advice despite this convenient excuse. Don't give up the fight if you have been conned into using this insurance.
- Misleading coverage
Preferred solution: what was insured $4500, as a result of the security compromise they were supposed to cover
User's recommendation: Don't use Travel Guard AIG and make sure flight insurance covers threats and acts of war or strife

Verified ReviewerPaid for insurance and it didn't cover when our flight was canceled
JetBlue canceled our flight while we were waiting to board at the Punta Cana airport. The gate agent, the JetBlue representative online, and the airport, all told us we had to vacate the premises.
Nobody offered a hotel voucher, which meant we were on the hook for paying the full amount of our hotel stay. We submitted a claim which was initially closed. We then submitted another claim when we saw our first one was closed, only to quickly receive response on the original claim, indicating that we would be reimbursed for $400 of the $1,440 we had to spend because our trip was extended for two days against our will. The AIRLINE booked us for the 11th when we were supposed to leave the 9th.
We were not changing hotels; we returned to our original hotel, and Travel Guard did not cover the trip except for a measly $400 out of the $1,440. We are now on the hook for 1,040 because this isn't real insurance. The original claims adjuster was named Carlton Gayle. He did not once contact us or request any information, though we did upload a ton of information to the website. When we resubmitted, we shared everything to prove that it was not our fault that our trip was delayed.
We did this via email this time because it appears like he never even opened any of the uploaded, because if he had, he'd realize he isn't fulfilling our policy, which covered up to $5,000. We paid over $100 for 2 people (more than that, realistically) for the policy, to have them cover $400, so we got $300 back. Do not purchase this policy.
Our trip was cancelled by the company, not delayed by us or them. They literally cancelled our flight, and Travel Guard would not cover it./
Preferred solution: For them to cover the full cost of the extended lodging
User's recommendation: Do not purchase
Need to cancel a trip
Need to cancel a trip but I cant get through to any of the travel guard numbers. Not a pissed customer, just sadly cant make my trip so I need to cancel.
Refund for cancelled flight
My flight were cancelled due to Hurricane Ian. Now I have to jump through hoops to get a refund. I paid insurance for my flight, and my refund should have been automatically reimbursed.
- Did not reimburse flights that were cancelled
Preferred solution: Full refund
Total Scam Rip Off
The terms of the policy make it impossible to get reimbursed on a claim. They will accept your claim and send an email with a denial shortly afterwards with some outlandish terms that make it impossible to get reimbursed. Waste of money.
- Scam
- Rip off
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Do Not Use Rip off/scam
Don't buy AIG Travel Guard Insurance unless you have a magnifying glass
I bought travel guard insurance through the United Airlines ticketing reservation system. I thought it protected the consumer for trip cancellation.
Apparently, it does not so I understand after trying to file a claim. If you have a lot of extra time, and you enjoy reading paragraphs of legal mumbo jumbo with a magnifying glass, good luck to you. Otherwise, there are better options on line.
Never again with any AIG products. I do not believe it to be an honorable company.
- Misleading or insinuating text when it comes to coverage
Preferred solution: $200 change fee refund. I am not even asking for full ticket refund
Don't want to deal with customer so just put them on hold
They refused to sell insurance through Exploretrip.com , I was told to contact Travelguard directly and they just placed me on hold indefinitely so they did not have to deal with customer.
- Lack of professionalism
Preferred solution: more professionlism
