Poor Deck Restoration
- - Did not pull permit; deck failed inspection; bolts missing; TimberTech boards damaged; guidelines not followed.
I had Travco Construction redo my deck and it was the worst decision I had ever made. Travis Schneider didnt want me to pull a permit.
When he failed the inspection he started yelling at me that he said he didnt want to pull a permit. One of the many reasons he failed was he didnt put any bolts connecting part of the deck into the supporting posts, a safety issue. He admitted he had the parts but thought the inspector wouldnt notice. Now I have my family on the deck and I want it to be safe, I couldnt believe he was admitting that.
I let him have access into my home to use the bathroom in my basement. I caught him on cameras going into areas he wasnt allowed to go. I found empty beer cans in the dumpster he was using for the old deck boards. After seeing his work I went on TimberTechs website and researched the installation specifications and found out that he didnt follow a lot of them.
When I asked Travis about the installation guidelines he didnt know most of what I asked him about. I would have liked to think he knew what he was doing. He installed scratched and damaged TimberTech boards all over the main portion of my deck. When I asked him about it he stated ya I probably shouldnt have installed those.
When I asked him to fix it he said he would speak to the supplier, Iversons lumber.
I withheld the final payment until It was resolved, next thing I know hes taking me to small claims court. It was nothing less than a nightmare working with this company.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Don’t hire.
