Fridge issues please help

We love our new coach (bought end of Jan 2018). There are a few problems. If anyone out there can help me by providing solutions it would be appreciated. The fridge ices and will not self defrost as told it would. Yes, the doors and seals are doing their job, we make sure a tight seal is maintained at all times. It’s become the running joke, if we hear each other close the door, we yell out, is it sealed? The seals under all slide outs buckle and roll out/in but should remain stationary. Central vacuum doesn’t work well at all, we have a whole new appreciation for our dyson. The central monitoring system for the Black Water tank doesn’t work, I know this is an ongoing issue with most coach owners. The black water guage reads 66% full at all times, even after flushing it, I back flush for 30 minutes with each dump. We’ve contacted the dealer/salesman (have documented the communications) and they are the most unresponsive group of people I’ve dealt with in this industry.... buy it and we’re done with ya! Thru the dealership I bought the unit I also bought the warranty, had to cancel it for a refund (thanks AMEX). Picked up a Good Sam warranty for a fraction of the cost, haven’t used them but they were great to work with. Momentum is a good unit by me but where in the heck has they’re customer service gone? I can’t recommend another GD to a buddy that’s for sure.

I apologize if this is the first thing you checked, as it's probably the most obvious thing; but hey, some people overlook it so I thought Id mention it. Don't shoot the messenger.Have you checked the thermostat setting to make sure it's not set too high?

Generally speaking, unless your unit has a specific number colored in for where the normal setting should be, the dial should be set to about half until you figure out how the fridge works. Here is the thing in case you didn't know. Any fridge will freeze up if the thermostat is to high. Lot's of folks think two things.

If the dial can go there, it must be OK to run it there. That simply is not true. ANY fridge will freeze up if the the stat is too high. And this is not a matter of the fridge simply being too cold.

Freezers don't freeze up from being too cold. This is a matter of how the cooling system works. The second thing that many people thing is that their fridge is not cold enough, so they turn up the stat. And keep turning it up.

But there are other issues that can prevent your fridge from cooling enough that turning up the stat won't help. If there is a leak, especially ones that you don't know about, this can be a cause. And there are others as well. Some fringes simply struggle to maintain colder temperatures even when all other things seem to be correct.

If you don't use your fridge on the regular, like say you go out for 4 or five days and then turn it off. Don't underestimate the load you are putting on a fridge when you load it with warm stuff. Normal house Refrigerators struggle to bring a freshly loaded chamber down to temp. These RV refrigerators are not super duper efficient.

They too struggle to bring a freshly loaded chamber to temp. Any one of these things might cause a person to turn the stat up too high. But that's not really how the stat works.Again, if you know all about this and you have made sure that you are not running afoul of all of the common Refrigerator mistakes, and you are perfectly certain that your Fridge has a problem that you can't correct with the stat setting, than I am sorry. I mean the other option is that the fridge may just have an issue.

But from my experience in the HVAC field, many of these issues come down to inexperience with how these things work.

We take for granted how well our house fridges work, and how stable they are. RV Fridges are used differently than house fridges though, and it can, and does, trip people up.

We bought ours last year and the dealer just replaced the board on the fridge.

Have you contacted grand design directly? I have heard they are wonderful to work with. I have never had a good experience with a dealer.
