Confusion about Humidifier Service
- - Old Aprilaire 800 needs canister; service visits charged.
- - Newer unit shuts off; red light; service needed.
- - Bid $400; canister under $100.
I have two homes that have Aprilaire 800 Humidifiers.
It is time to replace the canister in the older unit. We have had Town and Country come out 2 times because it is not working.
It continues to not work after the technician leaves.
The technician seems hesitate to replace the canister. Instead I get charged for the service call 2x.
The newer unit, installed by Town and Country also keeps shutting off and the red light comes on requiring service. I had the technician out and he worked on it until the red light went off. Charged me for a service call.
Returned to the office and gave me a bid of $400 to buy and install the canister. The previous HVAC company charged me $200.
So I told them that I found the canister from Aprilaire for under $100.00 and watched the video for installation.
It is so simple.
I can not figure out what is going on. The $400 install of the canister blew my mind.
I thought I had found a trustworthy HVAC company, instead I am left scratching my head wondering what the heck is going on and have decided to never use them again.

The technician spent less than 15 minutes inside my home doing basically nothing. And, he lied about examining the unit outside which makes a loud screaming sound.
My home is a hot and humid box. DO NOT USE - TOWN AND COUNTRY HEATING AND COOLING. BEWARE - their incompetence is shocking. Please take the time and find another reputable Heating and Cooling Company if needed.
I have waited too much time with TOWN AND COUNTRY HEATING AND COOLING. My home is unbearable.
