On Thursday August 28th I called Tops IGA in Plantsville, CT. and had asked for a price quote for a bunch of meat. I was quoted it would be around $120. and we set it up to pick it up on Saturday Aug 30 around 1pm. Well we went there on Saturday and no one knew anything about the order. So we were a little disappointed and were told to come back on Sunday. My wife goes in to pick up the order on Sunday, one item was out of stock and another item was never passed along to the person who prepared the order. So you would think the order would then be cheaper, but instead of paying $120. my wife payed $165. When I spoke to the original person it was as if he didn’t even care and cared even less when I said this would be my last order there. I was so upset I called the owner, who told me the prices on the packages is what they cost and I don’t know how this person could give you that price without weighing the meat. If I was not blind I would go down there and give them both a piece of my mind, but I am not dragging my wife and kids down there just so I can vent in person when they obviously could care less. We have shopped there many times, ordered meat packages from them several times and this whole uncaring attitude is truly disappointing. Is this really what business has come to? Whatever happen to making the customer happy and standing behind your quotes and prices? I was a master plumber before going blind in 2000 and never once did I ever give a quote without standing by it and my work. If I told you I would be there Monday morning, I would be there or at the very least I would call if there was a bigger emergency. I would never think of telling someone it will cost $350 for a new water heater then find I messed up and go back and say sorry but the price is $400. I would eat the difference, in my opinion it would be unprofessional to do otherwise. I have shopped at IGA stores for over 40 years in various areas that I lived in and its unfortunate that this will be my last time, but neither can I shop in a store that is unprofessional, don’t stand by their quotes and later on act as if they don’t even care.
