Do NOT contract with Tokyo Express International Moving Company in Japan

We contracted with Tokyo Express Moving Company LTD in February 2017 and paid over 1 million yen to ship our household goods from Yokosuka, Japan to Maryland, United States. Our household goods were delivered to WSI Van Lines Freight company to receive our 40 ft container and deliver it to our new home in Maryland.

We were shocked to learn on April 12, 2017 that our household goods will not be delivered because Tokyo Express did NOT pay WSI Van Lines. Therefore, they are not delivering. For weeks, we all called and email the CEO Mr. Ueno, and he constantly ignores and promises to pay and has not.

There are a total of 5 families with household goods on hold because of this and we are incredulous on what to do. We reached out to friends in Japan and they called Mr. Ueno threatening him to pay, we reached out to lawyers, and the Embassy. Till this day, we are still in our brand new home with absolutely nothing!

It's been 2 weeks now....

If anyone is looking for international moving company, do NOT contract with this company!!! It's been a miserable and horrific nightmare for all of us

*Update* After 1 month, we were able to receive our Household goods. Tokyo Express never paid WSI Vanline company during that time; however, we received help from a US government agency who was able to step in and offer help.

They resolved our issue and was able to help us receive our household goods while Tokyo Express and WSI Vanline continued to their dispute payments. Our nightmare is over and we hope no one else will ever go through the same ordeal.

We are having the same problem. Mr Ueno ignores all phonecalls and e mails.

we have no idea where are belongings are. Or what van line they contracted with. Please!

Can you please tell us what government agency helped you? Thank you very much

I’m so sorry that you have been victimized by this horrible moving company. We went to the Federal Maritime Commission that handles overseas shipments. Here is there website: https://www.usa.gov/federal-agencies/federal-maritime-commissionGood luck- I truly pray you get your belongings soon!
