- - The staff promised plug-and-play, but the install was poor.
- - The price rose to 840 with extra charges, and the wiring/workmanship were subpar.
I would advise them never to do business with Tint Station. If they already made the mistake then I would tell them to stand their ground and don't fall for any of there promises and nonsense.
If it sounds too good to be true it probably is and know when to walk away from a mistake. Sometimes you are sold a bill of goods that can never be made right....
Before committing to the installation, I spoke extensively with Ramsey, who assured me he would personally handle everything and that it would be plug and play. Based on those conversations, I trusted him with a full audio installation. I provided the equipment myself after weeks of research, an Infinity Reference amplifier, Infinity Kappa front speakers, Infinity Reference rear speakers, and a Pioneer subwoofer, all well-reviewed and compatible. I was later told that my equipment wasn't good enough, which didn't match what I'd learned in my research.
The original quote was $735, but my final bill increased to $840. After the installation, I was told the harnesses were wrong because the front to rear fade did not work. I was quoted another $300 to fix that, later reduced to $150, but only if I posted a 5-star review while standing in front of Ramsey, and showed it to him. What should have been a straightforward install stretched over multiple days.
My car was there all day the first day, and I had to return twice more, spending several hours each time. Every time one problem was addressed, another seemed to appear. Then, major technical issues persisted. Bluetooth didn't work correctly at first, so calls and navigation were unusable.
I was told they couldn't disable the factory active noise cancellation, which created problems with the subwoofer. Instead of fixing it, I was told I'd need to take my Infiniti to the dealership and spend about $450 to resolve it. The final result was unacceptable. Despite investing in quality aftermarket equipment, my system sounds worse than the original factory stereo.
There's a constant buzz coming from every speaker that didn't exist before the install. The amplifier was turned down so low, apparently to reduce the buzzing, that the upgraded system is now actually quieter than the factory system it replaced. According to another professional car audio shop that is now correcting the installation, The amplifier was not receiving the proper front speaker signal. Instead, it had been tapped into the rear speaker wiring, which they told me significantly contributed to the poor performance.
The workmanship raised serious concerns. The amplifier was secured with only one bolt. Wiring was left unsecured and hanging beneath the dashboard near the brake pedal. Some wires were frayed, connections lacked proper heat shrink protection, nothing was properly secured with zip ties, and the wiring around the battery looked sloppy.
I was told the proper harnesses were never installed, leaving factory functions inoperative. When I picked up my vehicle, there were strands of copper wire and pieces of plastic throughout the interior. I take great pride in keeping my car immaculate, so finding it returned in that condition was extremely disappointing. The interior also had a strong body odor smell that was not present when I dropped it off.
I also discovered that my glove compartment tensioner had been damaged. When I brought this to Ramsey's attention, he denied ever working near that area. Even though the wiring installation required access there. The customer service was every bit as disappointing as the installation.
During multiple calls and in person, Ramsey yelled at me, used profanity while speaking to me, told me I called too much, and said I had no respect for his knowledge. I wasn't calling to be difficult. I was calling because the installations problems had not been resolved. To make matters worse, after all of that, I was told the real problem wasn't the install, but my equipment.
I was told my Infinity Reference amplifier, Infinity Kappa and Reference speakers, and Pioneer subwoofer weren't good enough, and that a good amplifier should cost around $2,000. After spending weeks researching components that were compatible and well regarded, that explanation was hard to accept. Eventually, I lost all confidence that Tint Station could correct the installation. I have since taken my vehicle to another professional car audio shop for inspection and repair, and they were shocked by what they found.
I gave Tint Station every reasonable opportunity to make this right. Instead, I experienced changing prices, unresolved technical issues, workmanship that fell far below professional standards, pressure to post a five-star review before receiving a reduced charge, and what I experienced as hostile and unprofessional treatment. I spent a substantial amount of money on quality equipment, expecting a professional installation.
Instead, I'm left with a system that performs worse than stock, and now have to pay another shop to correct the work. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Tint Station.
