I gave Thumbtack a go as a pro (I'm a photographer in a competitive area) and after only a week I saw so many flaws which basically show how the model is skewed in favor of the requesters not the pros who fund the site. Their is absolutely no quality control and nothing to stop anyone from sending a request, including oftentimes other pros who simply want to see what others in the area are charging. This just seems so wrong, and the more I...

A family member found GONZALO RODRIGUEZ on thumbtack. This guy sounded perfect. On the day of my wedding he came to the venues selected and took tons of pictures. I made the mistake of paying him cash at the end of the night. Well that was months ago and we still have no pictures. Gonzalo has lied to thumbtack and will not communicate with us. Well, my husband and I will be going to See legal assistance, as well as seeing what we can do to put...

I am a professional photographer with a great portfolio and years of experience and I have not had one response to any of the numerous (15 or 20) quotes I made on Thumbtack. I believe it's a bogus site and I don't think that any one ever gets any work. I don't think there is any verification that goes on to make sure those asking for quotes are serious clients. And I think their business model is set up just to make money for them. I would...

As a professional photographer Thumbtack was a great idea and at first worked well. As time passed the company raised their prices and less clients were available. They are a consumer service based company with no concern for the professionals that make the app work! If you want to throw away time and money this is the way to go!

I hired this company Ferrari Fotos from thumbtack. The entire experience was a fraud. Photographer never contacted us. He never got us thank you cards nor had the decency to pay us back full amount for wasting our time. I believe this company has since been removed due to complaints against him.

Paid a lot of credits to find out the job is being proposed by someone that is trying to find out about having photography done in a museum that they have no authority in. Person proposing job decides they are not going forward with job but tells Thumbtack they might at a later date. What does not having authority or standing to hire someone to shoot items in a museum that they have no authority in seem like a legitimate shoot that a...

Thumbtack now gives the service providers stats on who you “compete” against with regard to “bid” or “lead” “opportunities”. After receiving the last stats I worked out the numbers and here is what they show. The people that I compete against have a 6% success rate. This equates to bidding on 16.6666 requests to obtain ONE job. Let’s round that off and now we know from Thumbtack’s own data that your competitor had to bid/quote on 17 jobs to...

Anonymous This is all true IF the only jobs landed are $200-$400. I'm in construction and if we used all your same numbers, but the money earned was $2,000, then spending $100 to get $1...

Thumbtack has just changed their pricing policy...the more popular a service is the more it costs. Really! So, if you offer a popular service it will cost you more. I just bid a job that the customer cancelled within minutes of my bid. Dis I get a refund - no, the customer had "seen" my bid therefor he "received" my bid. Doesn't matter that he cancelled the job before selecting a photographer - "waiting for a better time." This is a rip off. I...
