Update 11/6/2023: 2:25pm
After FINALLY getting my Car back on Oct. 19th, my Family and I endured 11 days of a strong, nauseating burning motor oil smell, circulating thru my Car!
I was told it was probably just residual oil from the work they did on my Car and would eventually burn off! I couldnt take it anymore so I swung by on Oct. 30th, after my change engine oil soon light came on, for someone to take a look at it and they came to the conclusion that the original Tech failed to replace a seal/ gasket or 2 when he stripped down in order to replace the harmonic balancer.
I dropped my Car back off on November 2nd, for them to replace the seal(s)/gasket(s), another 3 hours of me without the use of my Car. I drove straight Home and when I got up the next morning and checked under the hood, not only was the oil leak NOT fixed it was WORSE!
AGAIN, lead to believe it was just residual oil from where they worked on my Car.
Yesterday, Nov. 5th, my Husband and I cleaned off all the standing oil we could see, checked the oil level and I headed to town to try and work and run a few errands, 2-3 hours later, the same oily mess was at the top, left of my engine and my oil level wasnt registering on the dip stick! I put 2 quarts of oil in and headed Home.
This morning, the oil level was back to not registering so I called them, livid and told them that they had a choice of me adding oil and bringing it up there or they could come pick it up? The Head Tech came out and picked my Car up at about 9:30am, hauled it back to the Shop and called to tell me that it was yet another seal/gasket, claiming they had replaced it It is now 3:05pm and nobody has said much of anything to me, sitting here, STILL waiting
Update 10/19/2023: 11am, 1 week and $1,200.00 later FINALLY got my Car back!
Update 10/18/2023: 4:10pm, got a call saying that my Car was 95% done, still wanted to tie up a few things and test drive it, didnt receive confirmation that it was finished before they closed at 5pm?
Thomas Tire willing MAYBE I will get my Car back tomorrow?
Update 10/18/2023: 3:30pm, I received a less prompted update call after 3 full days of this Technician working on my Car, with guidance from Technicians @ Ford and the use of their special tools, has it all put back together but it is STILL not ready
Update 10/18/2023: 8:44am, not even 15 minutes after I posted this on FB, I get my FIRST phone call from Thomas Tire after leaving my Car there on Thursday apparently there are special tools that are required, by Ford, to set the ignition timing on a 2012 Edge? I was told that said tools were borrowed from the Ford Dealership but they STILL cant get the timing right so they are redoing it, using a new found, specific sequence and/or bringing in a Tech from Ford.
First of all, they have been servicing my Car for several years, they knew that they couldnt change my transmission fluid when I asked a few years back, due to lack of special tools to do it with, so how did they have no knowledge on timing for an 11 year old Car? Second, I should have received the first call, at the VERY least, on Monday, when they FIRST discovered the little hiccup!
Update 10/17/2023: 5:20pm STILL no call, STILL no Car Moving in to day 4
I have used Thomas Tire & Automotive for years, since well before the big move, but in my current experience with their services I will be looking elsewhere for my automotive needs, in the future. I took my Car in on Thursday, October 12th and it is now Tuesday, October 17th, I STILL dont have my Car and not ONCE has ANYONE from Thomas Tire called me for an update!
I dropped my Car off that Thursday, what I thought would be a simple, fluid change fix turned into a busted Harmonic Balancer, whatever have to do what we have to do.
I was told it was a 4-5 hour Job and they didnt have the part, it had to be ordered.
Friday, I first called up there at around 11am to see if the part had come in, it hadnt. Having been told it was a 4-5 hour Job, I called again at 1:06pm to check and was told that if they got the part within the hour, they could possibly get my Car ready that day as it was a 3 hour Job I called again at 2:01pm, still no part.
Yesterday, Monday, I called again at 1:22pm to get an update and after a brief hold, was told that the Harmonic Balancer had, in fact, been installed, they were working on the timing and would call me when it was ready.
Today, Tuesday, I STILL had not heard ANYTHING so I called at 11am to see if my Car was ready or permanently being held hostage? After holding, again, so that the person who answered the phone could check with the Head Technician, I was told that they were STILL working on it and would get a call when it was ready. Im sorry but anyone who is taking THAT long on timing has NO business working on Cars!
Least of all MINE!
Marisa Tomei could do a better Job! Here it is, almost 2pm, 3 business days later, STILL have not received ONE phone call from ANYONE at Thomas Tire and Im STILL without my Car!
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Take your Car to someone else, ANYONE else!
